IPOD help needed

Got a shuffle for Xmas and daughter got the IPOD video- however we have only one computer. How can we download what each of us want without downloading everything the other has? Right now the everything is being downloaded.

Hope this makes sense and I am sure this question has been asked before. Feel free to direct me to the previous post.

There is a way to set your ipod to "manual" for downloads so you don't have this problem. Unfortunately, I don't have my kids' ipods here right now so I can't remember where you go to for this setting. I had this same problem earlier this week.

When the Ipod is connected, click on the Ipod on the left hand side. You'll see tabs on the top of the window for each type of media that can be played on that Ipod. Click on each tab and change the default from updating all items to manually manage. An easier way is also to set up individual song lists in Itunes for each person, then pick that particular song list to be updated when the Ipod is attached, that way if new songs are added by one person, they'll automaically update.

make sure the itunes setting aren't set up to automatically sync your ipod when it is docked.
then just drag and drop what songs you want onto whichever ipod is connected.

We have three iPods in our house, two shuffles and a Nano. I also do the individual list thing, it works best for us. It also allows me to have their list on my iPod as well.

Probably the easiest way to not get each others' music is to set up playlists for each of you (just drag and drop from the library into your playlist) then set up the auto sync to sync from the playlist and not the entire library.
