I bought a couple Sansa mp3 players for dd's for Christmas, and am now in search of speakers so that they can listen to them in their rooms at night without having to use headphones.

What I would really love to find is a station that doubles as speakers and as a docking station (to charge them).. and for it to plug into the wall (we had some speakers for their old fp3 players that ate up batteries like crazy).

Does anything exist like this? I've tried searching on Amazon but not sure if I'm searching using the right words.

It would have to be a universal mp3 player product rather than one specifically for ipods.

And looking to spend maybe around $20-30 max...

Thanks! :goodvibes

Sansa and iPod are two different things. Did you buy a Sansa MP3 player, or did you buy an iPod? If you're searching on Amazon for a Sansa iPod docking station, you won't find anything.

oops, sorry.. meant to say Sansa mp3 player.. that's why late on in the post, said it needed to be universal, not for ipods, :) sorry...

:)

The one I had for my daughter's Sansa wasn't bad on batteries, I didn't think. It was just a cheapy from Target. We found another from Kohl's that was a stuffed animal with MP3 speakers in it. That was ok on batteries, too.

Do Sansas recharge now? My old Sansas were operated by replaceable batteries. In any case, most MP3 speakers come with a 3.5mm plug that goes into the headphone jack.

Maybe the speakers I had for their old players were just battery hogs then.. seemed that we went through a set about every month..and that was with them only listening to them for a few minutes each night.

The Sansa's do charge, at least these ones I got do...

So trying to find something that might be able to charge them at the same time that they're playing them at nighttime.. only other way to charge them is to have them plugged into a computer...

So wondering if there's some docking station out there that has a usb connector, but also would have speakers? Not sure if there is such a thing, lol.

If not, I'll probably just get a set of speakers at Target or Walmart that they'd plug in to using the headphone jack.. and then just charge the players on the computer every so often.

Thanks for the help, and thanks for that link also.. seems as if those are just for true Ipods though?

Most speaker docks that interface with non ipods use the earphone jack to connect to the mp3 player in order to play music. So they cant charge the mp3 player at the same time since the earphone jack cant be used to power the battery. Another thing to think about is that if your looking for a battery powered unit that charges the sansa, your going to eat thru batteries very fast.

Yea, looks as if a recharging station for non-ipod mp3 players doesn't exist.. was hoping to get a plug-in type vs. using batteries.. but doesn't look like there's either one.

Oh well, guess I'll just be buying the universal-type speakers.. thanks everyone, :)
