If you like the ipod touch , you will LOVE the Iphone 4 !!!
I've had my Verizon Iphone for 2 weeks now and I'm in love. It's so awesome and so easy to use :cloud9:

My friends with Droids all say that battery life is horrible and there is a learning curve to using it.

I vote Iphone :yay:

I gave up my iPhone on AT&T in September of 2010 for a droid x, so I think I'm pretty qualified to give advice on this subject.

Think of everything you like about the ipod touch. You will probably have a similar list of hates for the droid x. I cannot wait for the iphone 5 to come out on verizon. At that time, I'll go back to the iphone. Here are the things that irritate me the most:

multitasking - The droid x is closer to true multitasking than the iphone. To most users, this means the droid x has significantly less battery life.

podcasts - While there are several podcast-gathering apps for the android OS, none comes close to the smoothness of the ipod/iphone. They all seem clunky to me.

listening in car - I don't have a mp3 port in my car, so I have to use fm transmitters. There are far more choices for these for the iphone than the droid.

apps - Many more on iOS than on Android OS. Most of the major players, such as dropbox, evernote, etc. are on both platforms. This is purely a matter of personal style, but the ones on the iOS, even the amateurish fart apps, seem more polished than their Android counterparts.

OS stability - My droid x reboots itself randomly. I can count on less than one finger all the times that happened on my iPhone.

Call quality - the droid wins, or I guess I should say Verizon wins over AT&T. Not having experienced the iPhone on Verizon, I can't say for sure.

Ultimately, it's a matter of personal taste on all these things. What I can and can't tolerate is probably different for you. Both the iPhone 4 and the Droid X are about a year old. Honestly, I would recommend choosing neither and waiting for the iPhone 5. If Apple keeps to past performance, it will be out in July, and that's what's kept me from dumping my Droid X already.

Not to complicate the issue further, as I know you're looking for a solution and not another option, but if you do go with the Droid, the HTC Incredible is higher rated than the X.

I have an Incredible and I have an iPod Touch. When Verizon came out with iPhone I could've switched my Droid for it, but didn't. It's not that I wouldn't have been happy with the iPhone, I'm sure I would have. But I'm very happy with the Incredible so I asked myself why change from something with which you are already happy.

In your case, I'm sure you'll be happy with either, I just urge you to consider the Incredible as a viable option as well.

I vote IPhone on Verizon!

I had a Blackberry and DH had the Droid. We were both miserable for different reasons but both hated our phones. We both switched to the IPhone as soon as it was available and haven't looked back. We are both thrilled. DH hated the Droid. It stunk at battery life, the Aps were clunky and he was dropping calls left and right. We've not had any issues with dropped calls, love the Aps and are nothing but THRILLED with the IPhones!

What is the typical battery life of an iPhone 4 these days? I can generally get 2 days of of my original Droid standard battery, and an extended battery is available.

If you are thinking Android and can wait a bit, wait until the LTE phones hit, like the Thunderbolt. Even if you don't need LTE, it may drop the prices on the older phones a bit. LTE would give you simultaneous voice/data.

The Thunderbolt has been delayed due to signal/battery life problems (which are related).

No telling when an LTE iPhone will hit the streets.

Also, supposedly they will bring back tiered data plans.

I never had a Droid but have the Verizon iphone and love it. I always liked the phone, but now that it doesn't drop half the calls, I LOVE IT!!

Why get something "really close to" and "almost as good as" and "looks just like" the iphone when you can get the real deal?

If Verizon hadn't gotten the iPhone, I was going to switch to them. But since they now carry it, why get anything else??????

The battery life on my Verizon iPhone is about 3 days with normal use. If I spend alot of time on Facebook, Disboards, and games I get about 2 1/2 days. I love my iPhone. I had an LG Ally and a Droid Eris. I hated the Eris and tolerated the Ally until I could get an iPhone. If you love your Touch you'll love the iPhone.

I haven't yet heard of anyone liking an LG Android phone. They may become the new Nokia.

The HTC Eris suffered an odd fate, possibly due to people not liking it. Verizon gave a lot of them to Disney to develop the in-park appliance version of Mobile Magic. However, that seemed to have disappeared like all the previous attempts.

A lot of good points in this post! I would like to add that the media player with the Droid X is not as good as iTunes. Doubletwist is PRETTY GOOD, but it is not iTunes. (although I know there are a lot of iTunes haters out there).

The Droid X is a really good phone, but now that the iPhone is on Verizon...I will probably go back to the iPhone when I am eligible to upgrade.

Also...it might be a good idea to wait for the iPhone 5 since it should be near release.

I liked my Droid X, but I LOVE my Iphone so much more.... I am a big user of Itunes and have an IPAD so the transition to Iphone was easy...

I went with an HTC Incredible back in August since I didn't think iPhone was ever coming to Verizon. The battery life of my HTC is about a day - longer if I don't play games, use facebook, e-mail and internet too much. The major drain on my HTC battery is when I bring it to work where it spends a fair amount of time searching for signal (known problem in my office no cell towers nearby no one has signal inside building for the most part). If I put it in airplane mode most of the time at work, it easily keeps its charge.

Would I switch to an iPhone - maybe. As someone previously posted, podcasts and music are not as easy. I have not paid for applications for my HTC but that does mean you have advertising with the apps.

I think if I could hold out till iPhone 5 I would do that.

I really like my Droid Incrdible, however I am also looking forward to seeing what the iPhone 5 brings to the table.
I think a replacement or second battery is a must for the Droid Inc, and I really like the flexibility it provides.
I have had good luck with google listen for podcasts, and really like the app.
Brian - have you seen any updates regarding mobile magic for android through Verizon? The last time I saw anything, was on a video podcast/review.
Thanks.

An iPhone wouldn't help with battery life due to signal loss...if anytihng, it might exacerbate it :) But if the battery has more life in general, it would last a tad longer.

We have a similar problem when we are at our datacenter for any length of time. Deep within a building, surrounded by a cage...a full charge to nothing in just a few hours.

Nothing...there was a lot of hope that it would come out after they ported it for the in-park "appliance" version test, which ran on the old HTC Eris phones, but I haven't heard a single peep about it since. Even the in-park version has died yet again...that's the second or third time they've developed something like that and not used it.

We recently switched to Verizon and got iPhones. My husband had a Droid with Sprint before that. He was disappointed in the droid because we had iTouches and loved them. How they worked and everything about them. The droid annoyed me to use because I was used to my iTouch.

We now have iPhones and I never have been so happy and in love with a phone.

Thanks, looks like it os lines plus the Disney mobile site for now.

Thanks again everyone for all the advice, I think we are leaning towards the Iphone however our hotwater heater broke Sunday morning and it has been a long week of repairs, we have not had a moment to even sit down and compare, I hope to do it tonight.

I have the Droid X and I love it. I cant compare it to the iphone cause were not apple people in my house, but I have been happy with my phone and have had it about 4 months now. I havent had to many issues with the battery but I am very anal about having my phone charging when not in use so I always start off with a charged phone.
