Iphone what a ripoff

Have you tried a different Bluetooth??Maybe that would help:confused3. Also my friend has a droid and even though he loves it it seems to have a lot of issues (for example no matter how you change the timing the screen light won't turn off and it kills his battery)....I have no idea though how much is human error on his part;). So read up on it and make sure they take back screwy phones in your contract:laughing:.

I don't know if it's user error or if he just has a bad Droid, but that isn't normal. My husband and I both have Droids and our screens both turn off when they're supposed to. If he hasn't already, maybe he should go back and try to get them to give him a new one. If he can't get a replacement, he could try just pressing the button on the top right to manually turn off the screen whenever he isn't using the phone. It's not as convenient but at least it would preserve the battery. If even that won't turn off the screen then there's really something wrong with the phone and they definitely need to give him a new one.

I wanted an iPhone. REALLY badly. But then I realized that the iPod Touch can do all the same things except take pictures (I could REALLY care less about that) and make phone calls. The Touch, of course, is more expensive than the Phone up front, but you don't have a monthly fee. So, for us, it works very well. Plus, we don't have to put up with AT&T's crappy covereage. My iPhone friends have dropped calls and can't get service a lot of places, but since we went with Verizon, I don't ever remember a dropped call or no service.

I have a plain jane phone, just takes call, pics, messages and will text but it is really hard to text on it.
I am planning on getting a more advanced phone like a Blackberry or iphone for a small business that I am setting up but I don't know which one to get. I don't know what the original poster is talking about the "htc"? Can anybody reccommend which one I should get? I am not really advanced with using technology but I know I want some apps and I am willing to take the time to learn how to use them. My daughter (tekkie!) has one that checks the wait times at rides at wdw and DL (very handy on our trips!), a gps system, can find restaurants, looks up medicine to see what it is for before we get a prescription filled, etc so I don't really need one that advanced maybe but I want one that will do more than just be a phone! I only keep mine because it is part of our family plan and is really cheap (like $10 a month).

Any advice?

I think a lot of people are trying to show that, yes, they love their iPhones, but also, they are not paying what you are quoting above and maybe it could be affordable for you and is not a rip-off. Is the $140 just for the one iPhone? If I am reading your original post correctly, you are paying $192 for a plan with 5 phones. Do you currently have a data plan? Once you set up your plan with the first phone (with ATT or I believe any of the companies), the additional phones and minutes are much cheaper. You are paying the high fee for the call plan on the first phone. But if you are happy with the phone you have, then there you go!

Yes I have data, unlimited text, 1500 minutes plus 100 bonus minutes, nights and weekends after 7 and 5 smartphones for 192 all inclusive of taxes. Maybe some people got a better deal on their Iphone cell plans then what they told me yesterday but the 140 was for one phone with unlimited text, unlimited data and I think either 700 or 900 minutes I can't remember. Not a good deal in my mind when for 50 bucks more a month we get our whole family covered with everything we need.

I am still learning the phone I have now but I can't think of much it doesnre't do that the Iphone does do that I am interested in. I don't care about disney apps or a calorie counter or stuff like that. I want to surf the web, text, send pictures and email and all our phones cover that. It also does music but I have an ipod for that so no big deal if I don't use that feature. It does tv and you tube as well.

I think you need to be REALLY into the apps for it to be worth it.

I pay almost $200 a month with taxes for one iphone - 2100 minutes. And some months I have gone over that so the rollover minutes did bail me out. It's my only phone.

I hate the ATT phone service. I have lots of dropped calls in multiple times. My friends now will say things like "let's take bets on how long before your phone cuts us off". It happens about 1 out of every 7-8 calls.

I had 3 Treos before the Iphone. Internet access is much better with iphone. The contact management was a little better on the last Treo although it has gotten better.

I'm hoping I can find something better when my contract expires.

Love the iPhone, like others, we have two and have a $120 a month bill - inclusive - there is a discount on the plan through my husband's employer. Its cheaper than when I had a Blackberry and he had an iPhone.

Ditto. We pay about $120 a month for 2 phones, my iPhone and my husband's Blackberry Curve with unlimited texting and a data plan for both.

Another iPhone lover here! Not only do I love it but it is fantastic for keeping my daughter occupied during wait times for appointments and such. I loaded a couple of apps on there just for her, she would play Pocket God all day long if I let her, LOL.

I pay $190 a month for 2 iPhones, and 3 additional lines. (total of 5 lines)

We also have unlimited texting, and extended Nights and weekends.

$2400/year just to use the phone? That's a decent WDW vacation.

We pay $70/month with taxes for the T-Mobile MyFavs plan, 2 lines, that we are Grandfathered in to. I have a Motorola Razr and I just bought my wife some Samsung phone that works entirely off a touch screen, the only buttons are for power, volume and to disconnect a call. We call our friends and family overseas via Skype for another $9/month unlimited talk. How we survive without a 2-inch screen to play games for an extra $100/month on I'll never know :rolleyes1

Checking in with plan details - 4 phones, one of them an iPhone, but no text for any, and data only on the iPhone line. 1100 minutes, damage coverage on two phones, $140 a month including taxes.

If that's all the phone was to me, I'd never have gotten it. Being able to check email and access information on the fly has been invaluable. Seriously. I kid you not when I say I don't know how I got along before this phone! It just makes SO many things SO much more convenient. :confused3 Now truth be told, ANY smart-phone would accomplish the same thing for me, but I do like the iPhone a lot - it's the only one I've ever used for more than a few minutes, so this isn't a "it's the best" testimonial. ;) Oh, and games...I have about three free ones and rarely play them. My favorite is WordWarp - anagrams, gotta love 'em. :rotfl:

Yep when you add it up for a yearly price it doesn't make sense. I am not too happy with my 192 dolllar phone bill for 5 phones myself, but after hearing what ATT wants for one Iphone and reading what others pay for theirs I feel alot better. It is still more then I want to pay though.

Now if we are talking internet service I am getting more then my monies worth with verizon for my DSL, we run a ton of compaters off of it. Why cell plans are still so high I don't know. I pay an extra 17 bucks a month for a home phone with free nationwide long distance. Cell prices need to drop IMHO. I am on the budget board aren't I? Or did I get lost?:rotfl:
