iphone vs android phones

If you like using Google products, get an Android.

If you are an iTunes fan, get the iPhone.

I personally prefer Google. I have been using Android phones since the first one came out.

Good luck!

"Cool" people use the iPhone

People who couldn't care less about being cool use the Droid.

yeah.... I went there.:dance3:

Well, I'm sure not cool, but I love my iPhone. My BIL who is a total tech geek had one, but went over to the Droid phones. Evidently the iPhone wasn't sufficient for him, but I was really happy with mine until it got really sloooow (old age and all that :rotfl: ).

Anyways, I'd say it's personal preference. I went to the store and played with the different phones I was interested in this time around and ended up pre-ordering the new iPhone this morning. I did my shopping over the summer and decided to just hold out for the 4s or 5 or whatever it was going to be.

If you are any bit into apple's ecosystem of iTunes, iPods, iPhones, and apple tv, then go iPhone. With the new version of iOS (5) next week it doesn't need to be tethered to a computer any more.

If you're not into apple, then look at the droids but pick out the better hardware like samsung galaxy. With apple the hardware is pretty consistent but droid phones are all over the board.

I have had an iPhone for a couple of years. I use google mail and calendar on the iPhone for personal matters, including managing multiple calendars. I also use Outlook for my work e- mail. If you want an Apple email solution, there is no longer any charge for it. It's great to have all my accounts on the same device.

I use iTunes for music and to organize movies. I went a year after I got the iPhone without paying for any apps. Most android apps are available for the iPhone, including the ability to edit google docs.

If you live or work near an Apple store, the ability to ask for help with even the dumbest questions is priceless.

The worst thing about the iPhone is that it is an entry level drug. After getting the iPhone, we have since purchased a MacBook, an iPod Touch, an iPad and an iMac. The iPad in particular, has been amazing. Just yesterday, it allowed me to efficiently do a work project while on vacation.

Try out the options and see which works best for you. -- Suzanne

. Every carrier that has picked up iphone so far has immediately increased the pricing for thier data pchages, and eliminated unlimited data entirely.

Not exactly true..

Verizon did not go up on data prices. Unlimited was eliminated but it happened 5 months after the iPhone launch. Many people are grandfathered in with unlimited data.

This is why I gave my upgrade to my dd, so she would be grandfathered into unlimited data. She chose a BB, but is now regretting it (one of those, all my friends have BBM and I want it to). Maybe an iphone can be her Christmas gift this year. As for me, I can finally upgrade this week, so onto my verizon guy to FINALLY order my iphone:thumbsup2

True! My DD17 was away all summer so the day before the unlimited data plans were axed in July I added it to her line even though she wouldn't be home to shop for her iphone until she returned. It worked out well because by the time she got home the iPhones were $100 less than they were at the beginning of the summer!

But they did eliminated it, and if you need to change your plans, add a line, ect you lose it or cannot get it on the new line. I wont have a smartphone without it. I have had to pay through the nose for gonig over before.

Well my DH went with the android Photon because of the ability to hold a weak signal better then the iphone (important to him). It looks the kids are going with the iphone. So I will take my time, my daughter will give me her evo so I will get a chance to experience both. I already have the ipad2 and it almost seems like the same thing but you can talk on it.

While I cannot say that there are bad phones out there, there are reasons iPhones are so popular. Any contrary arguments are not factual but instead are emotional. It really comes down to how much money you have to pay up front due to the discounts offered on Droids vs few discounts for the iPhones. I have an iPhone on Verizon as does my DW and many in my family and that number keeps growing. Facetime is the best and makes a phone calls seem like a poor alternative. With the cloud coming to iPhones in the next few weeks one of the last arguments against the iPhone will be gone. Favorite Apps include scanners that allow me to do price research as I shop and camera apps that have made me leave my digital SLR home more frequently. I am not a gamer but I love Angry Birds and Tiny Wings as well as a basic solitaire game. Number Guru allows me to look up phone info for unknown numbers and banking with my iPhone is a real time saver including depositing checks from home. I have remote controlled computers and other electronics at home but I think Siri will make a huge change in our lives in the future (you will hear more in the future). As for the whole 4S versus 5 argument it is only marketing and is the same as the 4G argument. 4G doesn't exist except in the lab and marketing language so don't let marketing sway you. Good luck with your choice and enjoy what you pick.

Of course, starting next week, there will be an iPhone available free with contract. I have iPhone 3GS and will upgrade to the 4G. My DH plans to keep his 3GS for the time being. -- Suzanne
