iPhone Question...

Why does my iPhone ping every half hour or so? I have a new iPhone 4--I don't remember my old iphone doing this--or maybe it did and I didn't notice because it wasn't as frequent.

I still have a 3G, but I think you must have a notification on, for email or Facebook, etc. Check in settings.

I agree. Must be notifications...you could have opted in in for Facebook, Twiter, games....

I have the 4 and have never had a ping.

I have a 4 and it pings when I get email. This was happening far too often until I changed the settings on FB and stoped all the notifications!!

If you have your email set up, it's most likely a ping letting you know you've got a new email. If you have an app like Facebook, you can go to the settings and stop the pings.

In mail settings you can also change it to not push mail. ( if it is mail that is causing the problem) If you control when you check it, you'll get all the emails at once when you want them, not pinging randomly.

I had my email on Push--now it is set to Fetch every hour. I also realized all my FB notifications were turned on--I turned off all but 3. Thanks for all the suggestions/help!
