iPhone News...

The rumor I heard is that a new but still non 3G version would hit 200 on contract through AT&T. Again, everything is just a rumor. But I do work for AT&T and we know absolutely nothing...

With Palm in a death spiral, my business is most interested in the 3g iPhone (particularly its exchange sync capacity). I don't think AT&T will be selling non-3g iPhones.

According to pcmag.com, in April, at the CTIA wireless conference, AT&T CEO Ralph De La Vega said that "I think that you can expect all of our smart integrated devices to be 3G in the future, and I'm talking about months." When asked whether that includes the Apple iPhone specifically, he repeated, "I think that you're going to see our integrated devices be 3G devices in the not too distant future, and I mean months."

I totally want an iphone. I just got a itouch 8g for mothers day and I am in love! I am trying to convince my hubby to let me upgrade but he feels like the monthly charges would be to much. Bummer

NOW that there is a new model what is the base iphone you can get?

AT&T is not a company I want to do business with for my wireless phones. I just wish Apple would start dealing with other providers as well, because I would be all over it if Verizon got it.

It looks according to most articles, the base phone will still be $399. While pricey, it's better than $650!

I was worried about the extra monthly charges, but.... Unlimited data for your iPhone only runs an extra $20 a month. Data plans for all other phones runs $35. Hopefully they will keep the data charges the same.

What's really great, Philly is completely covered with 3G service. I can't imagine they would skimp on 3G. Even the free phone, I just got from At&t, is 3G compatible.

As long as the price and data charges stay the same, I'm picking one up. I'm trying to get my buddy to wait out at the Apple Store, on release day, so we can pick them up.

This is what I have been waiting for. Reading about it for too long now, and WANTING an iPhone for WAY too long, LOL. Come the end of June, it will be mine!!!!!!!!

Now, if only I didn't have to switch to AT&T to get one. :rolleyes1

Is At&t really that bad? I've heard many complaints, but a lot of peeps in the Philly area are satisfied with them.

I know I get service in my spots T-mobile just didn't hit. I could never get a bar at my dads house, or the surrounding area. Now it's full bars and the calls don't drop out.

Since you are in the Lehigh Valley, will you be in-line at the KofP Apple store some early June morning, Rotlex?

I think it may depend where people live. I'm at the Jersey Shore and I've had AT&T for years now. I have no problems and almost never have a dropped call (I think its been a year or so since I've had that happen). Now Verizon...that company was horrendous for us. Dropped calls all the time, no reception...I was never so glad to switch carriers!

At least in eastern MA, AT&T has been great. Like others with no complaints, it's been years since I've had a dropped call, and even when traveling to Maine, or in WDW, I've had perfect reception.

Don't know about any other parts of the universe, though.

I have AT&T as well and don't have any problems with dropped calls.

I havent had any problems with At&t either. I mostly got it to begin with because they served the area i was going to school, and I can talk to my sister in hawaii, my mom and dad, and fiance all for free because of the mobile 2 mobile part. That in itself made it worth it to our family.

I had heard that IPhone might become available for other wireless systems. What are the chances? I work for Verizon and get employee discounts and I wouldn't like to switch.

We just got cell phone service through AT&T in January and we have not had any problems with their service so far. My in laws had Cingular before AT&T bought them and had nothing but problems but they also had a really cheap LG phone as well. (Not that there is anything wrong with LG as a brand they just bought a cheap phone overall I think.) Since AT&T has bought them they have upgraded their phone to a Motorola Razr and have not had any problems with service. Even when they go to the mountains of Northeast PA where cell phone service didn't use to exist LOL they now have service. I had Verizon for my home phone for many years and I always had billing issues. I will not be going back to Verizon anytime soon. My BIL has Verizon for his cell phone and has had a lot of billing issues as well. As far as service with Verizon he has not had any issues that I am aware of. As far as the Iphone goes I have never used one myself because I will not pay that kind of money for any new electronics as the price drops very quickly once it has been out for awhile.

I had thought that Verizon came out with something comparable to the Iphone or at least what they thought would be competitive with it? I don't keep up on Verizon so maybe i heard wrong.

Have used the iPhone all over central Florida abd cant say enough good stuff about it.

Just today I posted a new thread using the iPhone.

It's a pretty nifty gadget.

yes to pledge your soul to the company with the MOST dropped calls. The service where I am is absolutely awful, but I love my phone so I put up with it. I am hoping it's better in FL!

You could switch over to t-mobile. They both take sim cards. I find T-mobile has way better service than cingular.
