iPhone News...

It looks pretty interesting, especially if your not an AT&T customer or a fan of their service. Personally, 50% of the allure with the Iphone for me is that it syncs directly with my Itunes. My kids have other types of phones that have the MP3 player, but they are a big pain in the butt IMO. I like the Instinct's GPS. Wonder if Apple could come up with a download where you could add something like that to your IPhone in the future without having to technically change phones, that would be nice. Of course then I'd need a way to mount my phone to the dashboard cause I like to look at the GPS as I'm driving like I do with my Garmin.

Does anyone else wonder with all the phones that have web capability about needing spyware and such in the near future? I honestly don't use my web browsing capabilities unless I'm bored or in a pinch, but with so many folks using the phone more like a computer, I wonder if we won't start to get phones with viruses and such.

the current iPhone has a GPS esque feature but triangulating the cell phone towers... usually it will just put you in an area... but there have been sometimes, like when I was in Manhattan... where it nailed me right to the street corner I was on. The new iPhone is expected to have real GPS, which will be great. I use the maps on my phone all the time.

Anyone check out the instinct? Looks interesting and is claiming to be the iphone killer.

Good grief, just looked at it...can anyone say RIP OFF!?! Just my personal opinion, but I hate it when Apple creates really innovative products and then everyone else copies it and claims that theirs is unique. I have seen it from Microsoft in software (although done badly, IMO) for years and now we are moving on to hardware. I know this is not specific to Apple or to any one industry, but for the purposes of this discussion, the iPhone copy cats are getting on my nerves.

Yeah, I've used google maps on the phone when I forgot my GPS (or DH "borrowed" it). I like a regular GPS better though...but in a pinch anything is better than nothing. ;)

there have been times that it got my position wrong enough, that I was really lost... more so than usual.

as far as the sprint clone goes... unless you like sprint or it's a real bargin, i'd stick with the apple product. while I'm not a apple fan (even though I work on a G5 at work everyday as a designer) their products are very simple and elegant.

Instead of an iPod, I decided to go with the Creative labs Zen 30 gig player. While it's alright and has features and abilities the iPod doesn't give you... the interface and user base just aren't there. After 1.5 years, wish I had just gotten the Apple player.

Moral of the story, just stick to the original, you'll probably be happier.

Tomorrow at 10:00am Pacific time Steve Jobs will hopefully be introdicing another incredible iPhone. I will be in Myrtle Beach for the week but I will definitely be tuning in to www.ilounge.com for their live steam of the speech!

I'm in San Francisco for WWDC and frenzy is getting ridiculous. We've been told that if we want to be in the main room for the keynote we need to be in line by 5 AM (for comparison I was in line at 8 AM last year and made it into the main hall). It's insane but I will indeed be in line seven hours before the keynote for the chance that I will be able to see Steve Jobs live (although a 100 feet away) instead of on a projection screen in an overflow room.

Isnt the keynote at 10? Wouldnt that make standing in line at 5 only 5 hours early, not 7? Im asking because i wanted to make sure its at 10 and not 12

You're right. The keynote is at 10 AM PDT. I'm going to blame my bad math on being sleep deprived and the one beer I had with dinner. :)

The Keynote is the speech Steve will make at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC). He often uses it as a vehicle to let people know what is coming next from Apple.
