iPhone Filming

Is it common place for folks to film rides using their iphones on dark rides without using flash? No complaints from CM or guests? I'm more interested in filming my daughters reaction more than the ride itself just not sure if it's allowed with the screen light or if the lighting will even capture anything.

I can only speak for myself but I find it extremely distracting when people are using their phones in dark places (rides, movies, plays). I use my phone for filming/photography A LOT but I'm extremely sensitive to those around me and assume the light would bother them.

It's not just the flash that causes an issue. It's the bright screen on the phone. The one that points at your face and typically the face of others with you on the attraction.

I would find that extremely annoying. The glow of the front of the phone is just as much an issue as the flash if not more because it is constant

Disney doesn't mind if you record rides. I used to do it every now and then, but you don't enjoy the ride nearly as much when recording it as you do without. If it is something you want to do, just make sure you have flash off and make sure to ride it again for your own personal enjoyment!

The bright scene would be very annoying and it would be rude to use it. The ride is dark for a reason.

I didn't film during any dark rides. I didn't want to distract myself or others.

That said - I did film my daughter's first roller coaster reaction: https://instagram.com/p/_FWaDuFjGE/

She was 2.5yrs old. First time. She rode it again and loved it haha.

Agree with those posters who already mentioned that it's the GLOW from the bright screen that's an issue because it's bright and it's constant.

This situation would be similar to sitting in a darkened movie theatre AND sitting near (especially behind) someone with their cell phones turned on. This happens all the time when I go to the movies ... someone (ie. bored parent during a kid's movie) always has their cell phone on and I'm always either slouching or angling myself weird in the seat trying to "block out" the glow from my line of vision ... not something I appreciate doing!

The glow from the screen is very bright in a darkened space! I know not everyone will agree but I personally find the glow very annoying. For those who are like minded, I'm certain they won't be too pleased especially after waiting in long line ups for the rides.

Just my 2 cents :-) I don't know if the CM's will allow you to record or not.

Here's another 2 cents ... perhaps save the video recording for "daylight" or "bright" rides (ie. "not" darkened rides) instead if the CM's allow recording? :-)

I definitely find it annoying when people light up their phones on dark rides. It's unnecessary. I record my kids reactions in my mind. :)
