Ipad?

I want to get a 16 gb IPad - anyone see any great deals? Best I have seen is refurb from Apple...

Put simply, no deals. It is a very popular item, and there is no reason whatsoever for Apple to discount them, so they do not. I suspect as the initial frenzy dies down in a year or so, then discounts will be available. Until then, pretty much you will pay retail....or slightly less for a refurbished model.

Personally, I'm holding out for the next model. Rumor is that it will be next spring and will likely have some USB ports so you can more easily get your data off, a front facing camera, higher resolution/retina display like the new version of the ipod touch just got, and larger storage. This is all rumor, but give apples history of releases/updates, I'd say at least some of it is likely true.

Since these things almost always get cheaper as the versions go on, I'll hold out for more features and a lower price. It's a cool gizmo, but I can wait six months so I don't get burned with what I consider to be a device that's pretty short on features right now.

I'm holding out for this as well. I got the first generation iPod Touch and 6 months later they dropped the price and added new features. Now Apple doesn't even provide software updates for it.

I have the current 16g base model. I didn't even realize that they were selling refurbs on the Apple site. I have seen several on Craigslist that are very, very new, all packaging included, for good prices, if used was something you'd be OK with.

I really needed to replace my old 12" iBook G4 with something a few months ago, so I went ahead and got the first gen iPad, but I'll be VERY tempted to sell it off and get the new version if it does indeed end up having USB and a cam!

I have a 64gb wifi IPad and I love it. Use it much more than my MacBook these days. I figure I can always sell this one if a new version comes out-gadgets are always getting updated so if I were always worried about them updating , I wouldn't buy anything.

check with colleges. we went to our campus store and my husband was able to get an iPad at 75 dollars off earlier this month. we bought the base model but that was my birthday present!

I am holding off for the new one too. I have heard a couple rumors for end of this year, a couple for 1st quarter next year, and 1 that said next June. It better not be June!

Not on the iPad. They aren't giving the discount on line for it at all - education, government, etc. It's just too popular right now. When they do give a discount, it's usually 5%.
