iPAD

It is worth mentioning that the 3g version of the iPad will be unlocked, meaning that you need not be tied down to any particular deal or contract. What I'm hoping for is a pay-as-you-go plan where I can prepay my internet access.

I hate contracts.

Thanks all.
I think I am going to forgo the 3-g since AT&T is not really a good option for me where I live.
I hope I am not sorry. I did SPEAK with a rep at Apple and the rep encouraged me to go with the WiFi not the 3-g.

Well, if its for free ::rotfl2:

I just hope that the iPad will become something special for peeps who already have an iPod touch or an iPhone. For now it just seems like a very very big thing doing the same stuff. Correct me if I'm wrong.

btw I really love my iPhone. So i can emagine why others would love the iPad. It's just so big:eek:

You guys do know that the 3G one cost 629.00 just for the 16GB. So it's 130 dollars more just for 3G. Is it really worth 130 more for 3G service that you have to pay for? The 64GB 3G is 829.00. If you ask me that is not worth it. Don't get me wrong I do like it. I was playing with one at bestbuy. It's cool but I would rather buy a laptop for that much money.

I think the 3G is worth it for me. I have a kinda dumbphone, and for me to upgrade my phone, I'd have to pay whatever a new phone costs plus a data plan of $30/month...but then we'd also have to switch plans since our current plan is no longer offered and of course that would cost more. So in the end we've figured it would cost $45 more a month for us if I change my phone.

Of course I'm not going to be walking around talking on my iPad, but mostly I want internet access when we travel. Having the option of paying $15 or $30 a month on an as needed basis is very attractive. The $130 extra for 3G will be paid for within 3 months by NOT upgrading my current phone. We'll use Mobile Magic on my DH's phone when we're in the parks, and then when we're in our room we can use the iPad. In fact, I'll go ahead right now and knock off $70 from our purchase price since we'd have paid that at WDW for internet during our week's stay anyway. (I'm a really good rationalizer. I can get this to be free - at least in my mind - pretty easily. Let's see, it's a book reader so let's knock off $400; it's a digital photo frame so let's knock off another $150...I'm almost there! :rotfl2:)

Just using it is such a pleasure though. We have an iPod Touch too, and say what you want about the iPad just being a bigger iPod Touch, the experience is just not the same.

DD(13) will be getting an IPAD with 3G so that she has the ability to access her schoolbooks online from anywhere. Most of her classes do not send books home so if she needs to do school work on the go it is impossible, this is a cheaper alternative to an aircard.
