I bought an Apple IPad specifically to use for our vacations to Disney. I got tired of lugging my heavy laptop. A problem I am forseeing is that some of the DVC resorts don't have wireless. Would I be able to hook up a wireless router using Disney's ethernet cable? Is there another way to hook up an IPad if only an ethernet cable to available? Is there an adapter I can buy?
We are staying at Beach Club Villas, Vero Beach, Animal Kingdom Jumbo house (DVC section) and possibly Saratoga October 9-October 19.

Thanks, Beth

We also take our IPADS to Disney with us. We take our Airport (available from Mac - their version of wireless router). You plug it into the wall with the ethernet cable plugged into it, it will make your room wireless. It is very easy. I'm sure there are other options as well.

We take our Airport Express and it worked fine with our Itouch. I would think you wouldn't have any problems using it for the Ipad. I would set the rourter up at home first using your computer. And make sure the connection works at home using your Ipad.

If it's a WiFi only model of iPad, you will need a wireless router. There are no apapters that will allow you to connect an ethernet cable directly to the iPad.

If it's a WiFi + 3G iPad, you could use a 3G data plan but would still be better off using a wireless router in the room.

I use an Apple AirPort Express with our iPhones and iPad with no issues.

I recently bought a travel router called Trendnet TEW-654TR which worked extremely well on our recent trip to OKW. I think I heard about this device on another thread here. You need to set it up at home using it's web-based set-up, but it was quite easy. We have all Apple at home, but I was looking for something less expensive. The router was about $50, which is half the price of a new Airport Express. The Trendnet is compact and comes with a travel case, power cable and short Ethernet cable, but I just plugged the ethernet in the room into the device and it worked great!

A refurbished Apple AirPort Express can be purchased for about $70 from the online apple store. What I like about it is it's a single piece unit with no external power cables necessary.

You know this made me think how behind the times WDW is. Did you guys know that at the Disneyland hotels they have free Wi-Fi for everyone. I am local to DL and sometimes go to the GC to cool off in the lobby. I turn on my WI-Fi on my iPhone and there is no problem connecting. Come on WDW, catch up in the times.

There's no need to buy an AirPort. You can buy a $10 used wireless router and it will function just the same for 15% of the cost.
