This is going to be dd's big gift for Christmas. It's on sale at Target this week for $329 with a $25 gift card, plus the 5% redcard discount. I know Apple never really goes on sale too much, I'm just wondering if I should buy it now or hold off until Black Friday (will there be better deals?) Also wondering if I should pay the extra for a 32gb rather than 16gb? Just looking for opinions, thanks.

I would probably wait, Apple will be updating the Ipod lineup in October, and it's possible there will be a new mini released at that time. You will also likely see some better gift card w/purchase offers on Black Friday.

I would wait. There is a new model coming out soon and that usually means better discounts on the existing models. I'm sure there will be other deals as well as we get closer to the holidays. They may not be $$ off, but could include extra hardware or software with the purchase.

How much memory you need will depend on your daughters usage. My kids tend to download apps, use them for a couple of weeks and then move on to the next one and delete the old ones. We keep what we purchase, but we don;t buy that many. A 16GB is fine in this case. If your planning on her having a lot of apps and/or doing school work on it, then I would say go with the 32GB.

I think I would wait as well.

And I would also get the 32G one if your DD is a teen or nearing the teen years.

I've found that more space is better and it's easier to get it upfront than to deal with replacing it to a larger one later on.

Or you can buy it now and then return it if a better deal comes along. check what the return policy is. I think you get a longer period to return something if you use the redcard. It is possible on black friday that you don't even get the ipad because it was sold out.

x2 :thumbsup2

You may want to also consider a refurbished one from Apple. It comes with a warranty. My husband just bought an iPad mini (16 gb) that is refurbished from Apple for $279. That too may go down in price after the new ones are released.

Good strategy. Usually when the new model comes out, the apple refurb store is a great way to get the model that was just replaced. Many times (especially right after the new one is released) the "refurb" products are still brand new, they just shifted the new "old" inventory into the clearance store.
