OK, who is waiting for the announcement from Apple for the IPad 2 release date!! Rumor is that Sunday the 13th is going to be the day.

I can't wait to get one for me and my daughter so we can skype and I can see my precious little grandbaby and also have a portable device for the internet and an e-reader.

They are releasing an iPad2?? Maybe that will mean that I can get a cheap iPad1. I hope so. I want it for the same reasons as you (except the grandchildren part - none of those yet).

I have been waiting for that announcement for months. I would love it to be the 13th, but Apple doesn't usually do things like that on a Sunday, and there were also rumours there would be an announcment yesterday. I sure as heck hope they hurry up!!! I have been saving and the money is ready to go!

Apple Insider rumors indicate that although the iPad2 is anticipated to be released soon, that the iPad3 may be launching this fall. We're going to wait for the iPad3.

They have started production of new Ipad 2 this week. The new Ipad 2 features built in face camera, thinner profile and faster processor. Apple will release a press conference VERY soon , and should start taking pre-orders for an April sale date.
Apple will NOT release an Ipad 3 this Fall, they always come out with new models yearly. They sell 15 million Ipads a year, let alone 12 million Iphones and year. and they have Iphone for Verizon this year too.As per to boost profit for themselves yearly along with Iphone, Ipod and Ipad sales. Smart for them but never good for the consumer who spends for the newest technology. Definitely a pocket cruncher!

If read carefully it is stating HP is going to have a IPad - Like unit in 6 months.

And he is guessing ! about IPAD 3!

Awesome! I would really like to get DH one for his birthday in April. I, personally, would have gotten him the iTouch but I know he likes the iPad so that is what I'll probably go with. I'm psyched there will be one that he can FaceTime with me on

I've never seen where Apple released two updates to a product in the same year.

John Gruber added the following clarification to his acknowledged guess about iPad3 posted yesterday:

"One thing I don’t think I made clear enough yesterday is that if I’m right that Apple will make a second iPad product announcement later this year, such a thing would be in addition to the imminent iPad 2 — not a replacement. Like when the iPod family expanded to include the iPod Mini — the Minis didn’t replace the existing iPods, they were an expansion of the product family."

I'm waiting for iPad2. I want to get my husband one for his birthday, May 1st. He likes the iPad but said it wouldn't be worth it unless it had a camera. He travels a lot for work so the camera and the ability to use iChat means he could video chat with our son and I when he's gone. So as long as Apple comes out with the camera one before his birthday, I'll be happy. I was hoping it would come out before Christmas and when they didn't I had to scramble for a big gift. Apple, don't let me down now!!
