Sorry if its a shock to any of you who haven't been...but apparently people still aren't aware of that fact.

IOA has 3 rollercoasters, it has about 4 times as many OTHER rides and attractions which AREN'T rollercoasters.

the one thing that bugs me every time I see someone talk about not going to IOA "'cause its a rollercoaster park"

that is all

You did it didnt you? You opened that thread on the CB. Will you never learn.:lmao:

IOA is NOT a rollercoaster park????

crap

if i read that thread one more time, I'M gonna hurl!

And what are you going to do, Chris? Give her a spanking when she--Gemma--visits Orlando?

:rotfl:

And so glad its not. I love my mega coasters, but I much prefer theme rides like JP, MIB, Spidey, etc., those are my favorite type of rides. I'll take JP over the Titan at 6-Flags anyday, although that is a great mega coaster.

Lets count the coasters shall we?
Islands of Adventure:
1-Hulk
2-Dueling Dragons
3-Flying Unicorn
Magic Kingdom:
1-Space Mountain
2-Big Thundermountain Railroad
3-Goofy's Barnstormer

So, by all definitions........Magic Kingdom is a Roller coaster park?
Oh, wait....we were talking overall
Universal Orlando:
1-Hulk
2-Dueling Dragons
3-Flying Unicorn
4-Revenge of the Mummy
5-Woody Woodpecker
Walt Disney World Resort:
1-Space Mountain
2-Big Thundermountain Railroad
3-Goofy's Barnstormer
4-Rock N Roller Coaster
5-Everest
6-Test Track (? after all it is the fastest attractin at Epcot, and it goes up hills....right?)
So if my calculations are correct....Walt Disney World has more coasters...if not the same amount as Universal? Is Disney a Coaster park?

I can't count Test Track, but what about Primeval Whirl? thats a wild mouse coaster

This allows parks like 6-Flags and CP to concentrate on the mega coaster crowd, leaves Dis and U to the theme rides. Again its apples and oranges. I'm glad there are different parks that specialize in different things.

Although there are many more coaster parks than Dis/U, the world needs more theme parks not more coaster parks. There are tons of coaster parks.

Primeval whirl is most definitely a coaster. TT is not. Dueling dragons is technically two coasters with Fire a much more superior coaster. ;) Pteranodon Flyers is also technically a coaster. That sort of changes the count overall.

And coaster parks are not exactly pulling in huge crowds... My local Six Flags is never packed... Even on weekends.... I prefer a well themed park, with well themed rides... I love coasters, but I don't want every ride to be a coaster....

Im sorry for bumping up the old thread, it just made so laugh so much!! it was hilarious!!

please dont spank me!!

Although Dragons has two coasters, it is still one ride. Just as the Great Movie Ride has too different storylines (gangsta or cowboy) I would not call it two rides. I also wouldn't call PT Flyers a coaster anymore than I would call ET or Peter Pan a coaster.

Primeval Whirl reminds me of the old carnival coaster called Mousetrap.

I have to disagree as I am one of those "coaster geeks". I look at Dueling Dragons as two coasters with complementary theming and one main entrance. The queue does split into two separate lines with two separate loading docks with separate tracks. They can and sometimes do run independently of each other as far as timing and downtime.

When I haven't fallen asleep, I think I remember the Great Movie Ride was primarily the same ride with a different CM "story". Same queue, and I believe one does not run without the other or at least I can't think of why it would.

IOA's own website defines PT Flyers as a hanging coaster. It has every key element of a coaster.

ET isn't a freewheeling "car" therefore it is a ride.

I don't mean to be argumentative, but that's how I see it.

I've never ridden Mousetrap but it absolutely does have that carney ride feel (on purpose). Forgot the name of it, but I rode one just like it at DCA
