IOA for one day on December 23rd...are we crazy???

We are a family with two teens. Spending four days at WDW then hoping to do one day at IOA on 12/23. We will book one night at HRH to get the benefit of FOTL. From what I've read here, we can get to HRH before opening that day and get our keys even if we can't check in.

My question is: does anyone have experience visiting the week before Christmas? I am sure it will be very crowded. But will it be so ridiculous that we won't be able to move?

And do you think it will take us all day and all night to visit the IOA highlights. Two of us love the coasters so the other two of us will defer to them (I'm even thinking I may just spend a day wandering the WDW resorts and Boardwalk to enjoy some free time and join my crew for dinner at CityWalk).

Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated.

Historically...before Christmas Day the crowds aren't too terribly bad. The huge crowds don't arrive until 12/26 and since you're staying onsite, you shouldn't have too many issues...except maybe for WWoHP...but you would get early entry to WWoHP for staying onsite.

Do people think that we need to get to IOA right at RD (or whatever they call it at Universal) in order to avoid bad lines or will FOTL make our day relatively line-free?

You would be able to get into WWoHP before opening since you're staying onsite and other than that area, the lines won't be an issue for you with unlimited Express.
