A teacher who I work with at the kennel has asked me to come speak to a group of 5th-7th grade students who have seen my posts here on the DISboards. They just happened to be studying Segways as a form of transportation.

The teacher has asked me of I would be willing to do a Q&A session with her kids on Thursday afternoon. She also sent me a few of the questions that they want to ask me:

Why are you so passionate about the Disney lawsuit?
How did you learn about the lawsuit to begin with?

Why do you think they aren’t necessary in certain places?

Would you ban Segways from other places? Why?

Do you not like Segways? Why?

Segs aren’t approved for disabled people…what do you think about them being used in this capacity?

What do you think about the Segs for Vets program?

Segway vs. Ibot

This should be an interesting experience.

Skip,

That sounds very exciting! I am sure you will do a great job.:thumbsup2

Does this mean you you now have your own Peeps?...Or Junior Peeps!

Keep us posted!

Skip,

Your post reminded me that the Justice Department issued a notice earlier this month giving March 2010 as the timeframe for issuing final (revised) regulations on the ADA standards that apply to public accommodations such as WDW.

That date is very flexible.

You can see the December 2009 notice (well, the substance of it at any rate) here:
http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/eAgendaViewRule?pubId=200910&RIN=1190-AA44

The proposed rule from June 2008 is here: http://frwebgate3.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/PDFgate.cgi?WAISdocID=9156607232+1+2+0&WAISaction=retrieve

Page 32-33 of the proposed rule (printed page numbers 34539-40) discusses the Department's thinking regarding Segways in Malls and Theme Parks.

I hope you have a great time lecturing!
