How did you guys word your invites? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!:goodvibes

We had a number of requirements: no parents listed, since we were paying for everything; a line of text above our names to make the design look good; and no flowery spelling out of dates, times, locations, etc. - it's a pet peeve of mine. So we ended up with:

The pleasure of your company is requested

Lurkyloo & Future Mr. Lurkyloo

Will be married

Monday
* February 4 * 2008

At 9 AM

Morocco Pavilion
* Epcot

Lake Buena Vista, FL

reception to follow, dessert party at 8:30 PM

We're paying for everything, but my DF really likes tradition, so we're doing it like this:

MS. (My mom's name)
&
MR. AND MRS. (His parents)
REQUEST THE PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY
AT THE MARRIAGE OF THEIR CHILDREN
MEGAN (my full name)
&
DANIEL (his full name
ON (day of week, date, month, and year spelled out)
AT (time of day spelled out)
SEA BREEZE POINT
BOARDWALK RESORT
WALT DISNEY WORLD (done in Waltograph font)
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLORIDA

Some explanations:
My mom's name is listed alone because my father has not and will not be participating in the wedding.

We used "REQUEST THE PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY" because proper etiquette states to use "REQUEST THE HONOUR OF YOUR PRESENCE" in a house of worship only, all other locations to use the wording we are.

And again, even though we're paying for every dime except the rehearsal dinner, DF wants to have our parents on there, and he didnt like the other option:

MEGAN (my full name)
&
DANIEL (his full name)
ALONG WITH THEIR PARENTS
MS. (My mom's name)
&
MR. AND MRS. (his parent's name)
REQUEST THE PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY
Etc....
So I compromised lol..if the invitation is the only thing I have to give on I'm fine with it lol :rotfl:

But etiquette aside, its really up to you. :thumbsup2

The only thing I would recommend is once you decide what you're going to write, show it to both of your parents (if they will be paying for parts of the wedding, and/or if their names are on the invitations). I've known more than a few couples that just put the invitations out and some parents were VERY hurt because they didn't agree with what was on the invitations. For example, the MIL who didn't agree that "her" name wasn't on it (it said, Mr. and Mrs. John Doe), the groom's parents who weren't included but contributed over $25K to the cost of the wedding, etc.

It's easier to adjust those things before the invites are printed and mailed out to all your guests.

We are going quite informal as it is a small wedding, and we are paying for everything and organising everything ourselves. We are going to have something like this:

We're getting married at Walt Disney World!

Monday 1st January 2008 (not the flouncey date format)
Seabreeze Point
Boardwalk Resort

followed by lunch

Grand Floridian Cafe
Grand Floridian Resort

and dinner

Le Cellier Restaurant
Epcot Resort

We would love for you to join us!

Alex and Tim

rsvp

We will only have 11 people in total and the people we are inviting are very close to us so we are keeping it fun and informal - like us!

We haven't confirmed anything yet so the details will probably change (mainly the date) but that's the wording and format we will have.
