I'm new to this forum and I wanted to say that I find it incredibly helpful, and all of your ideas are fabulous! I'm also newly engaged, and wanted to know your opinions on invitation wording. My fiance and I are from different financial backgrounds, and for our WDW wedding, my parents likely would not be able to contribute as much as my fiance's parents. Yet it's important to them to have traditionally worded inviations. If my future in-laws don't mind, is that rude to word my invitations that way?

To tell you the truth, it is not against tradition to have the groom's parents' names along with your parents' names. There are lots of traditions and politically correct versions out there for you to choose from.

I have seen it done two ways:

Mr & Mrs. Bride's parents and Mr & Mrs Grooms parents invite you the marriage of their children
Bride
&
Groom

or

Mr & Mrs Bride's Parents invite you to the marriage of their daughter
Bride's Name
to
Groom's Name
Son of Mr & Mrs. Groom's Parents

Technically if both sets of parents are contributing, then option one would be way to word it, as then both sets of parents would be considered the 'hosts'.

Just to share what we did, DH and I paid for our wedding ourselves, but my parents did pay for 1/2 of the cost of my dress and his parents paid for the rehearsal dinner. MIL also paid for my MOH and my hair the day of the wedding, which was a happy surprise for me! My mom passed 4 months before the wedding and my father was not in a position to do much but he did give us a very generous cash gift after the wedding.

For our invitations we said:
Jennifer and Jonathan
together with thier parents
(named my father)
(named DH's parents)
Cordially invite you . . . blah, blah, blah

They may not have all contributed financially but they did contribute in raising us, caring for us, loving us, and wanting to see us get married and be happy.

Congratulations and Best Wishes :goodvibes

Thanks a bunch. I personally don't mind whether the invitations say just one or both sets of parents, I just don't want to step on anyone's toes. :thumbsup2
