Hello ladies. So I got my supplies for my pocketfold invites and I'm going to slowly put them together. One question comes to mind... invite wording? Mom and Dad are helping with the wedding. They're paying for about half of it. Then we're paying for the rest. Should I word it like this?

Mr. and Mrs. M------ J----- B------
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Gail L---
to
Mr. Ian P------ S-----
on Monday, the seventh of September
two thousand and nine
at ten o’clock in the morning
Disney’s Wedding Pavilion
Grand Floridian Resort
Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Reception to follow
Disney’s California Grill Napa Room
Contemporary Resort

Or should I word it differently? I need your help. :confused3

I like it the way you have it too. I'm in the same situation - paying for half and my parents are paying for half, and I will probably write it out the same way.

The way you have it is exactly the way it should be done if the parents are paying, so unless you wanna split hairs and stick your own names in there too so everybody knows you paid for part of it, it looks great. :cutie:

However, if you do want to follow etiquette exactly, only church weddings use the phrase "request the honor of your presence" - all others use the phrase "request the pleasure of your company." Most people probably won't notice though...

Thanks Carrie! How would I have it worded with my names in there too? :confused3

I have the same thing...one set parents paying for part of it. I have been working on mine this weekend too, here's how I'm wording it:

(the last names have been squished to protect the innocent)

Only one set of parents out of 3 are helping us pay for the wedding, so hopefully this way doesn't offend the others. One family's religion has some rule about using "honor of your presence" outside a church so we didn't use that wording. My invites are still 'in progess', but I'm pretty happy with my wording at this point. Hope that gives you an option anyway..:goodvibes

I included DF's on ours, even though they were't contributing. I was just trying to avoid any hurt feelings.:confused3

Here's how ours were worded:

Mr. & Mrs. K
request the honour of your presence (yes, we're getting married in a church)
at the marriage of their daughter
Angela K
and
Matthew D,
son of Mr. and Mrs. D,
on date...

That way it clearly shows who's forking over the cash for the wedding.

I guess you could squish your names in under theirs, but I have never seen it done that way - I like the way auntpunkin did it! :goodvibes

But, really, I think yours are nice too just the way they are. :thumbsup2

We did the 'together with their parents' wording too. We have lots of step-parents and the list of names would go on and on if we listed everyone. Only my parents helped pay but we just didn't want anyone to feel bad. My mom was slightly upset but she never really said anything. I don't think she cared all that much that she wasn't named.

Thats so funny about the requests the honor of your presence - church thing....

I once saved a notice from the disney cruise about the show twice charmed and its an invitation that says -

His Majesty the King requests the honor of your presence at the lavish celebration...

Then it has the big logo for the show.

I've been staring at it non-stop lately thinking about how fun it would be to do a similar looking wedding invite.
