First off...I'm not a Disney bride but I do plan to honeymoon at Disney. I haven't found another wedding board to post questions on yet, but I have lurked here for awhile and skimmed some planning journals and such.

I hope it ok to still ask my wedding question here :confused3 ...so here goes..

I am on a very tight budget for my wedding and want to DIY wedding invites.

But i really have no idea where to get started. I have looked at a few sites but I was just wondering if any of you made your own invitations and also where you got your ideas. Mostly when I look at invites I am not sure if I could make them myself.

Also, there are going to be about 400 ppl invited so I want something classy yet simple.

Any help would be really appriciate, I just feel like this is a hurdle that I would like to get done soon.

Although I am not really in a push for time yet.
Thanks in advance. :)

I know a lot of girls have been very happy with cardsandpockets.com. I just ordered some samples that should arrive this week. Also, papersource.com ( I think) has some nice things. With cardsandpockets you can order sample card stocks for $1 each and play around to see if you like something. That way you can get an idea before you order everything and decide it's too much. 400 people though? That's a LOT of work!!! Good luck to you!

I ordered samples from cardsandpockets.com and absolutely love the idea. I ordered a mock-up kit then extra pocket folders and cardstock in different colors so we can mix and match to see what color combination we ultimately like. I think I ended up paying $21.56 for a full mock-up kit, two additional folders with no envelopes (one comes with the mock-up) and four cardstock colors that I can cut down to mat size to see which combo works best.

You can also get up to eight free samples at paperdirect.com too. These you can print directly on your printer.

Depending on the look your going for with your invitations, though, Paper Direct (in my opinion) would be better for rehearsal dinner invitations, place cards, etc.

HTH!!! :rotfl:

In addition to what others have posted, Michael's has a GREAT selection. They came out with a new "Bride's" line recently in addition to what they used to have. And surprisingly the Target by me had a great selection of bridal stuff when I recently went in that's new. They even have the "Just Married" flip flops!

Also, mygatsby.com has good invitations!

Hehe..I know..but for my family that is bordering on a small wedding. :rotfl: But I will have alot of help putting everything together.

Everyone else...Thank for the great suggestions. I found some cute ideas that I think I will be able to copy without much of an issue. Thanks again for all the help!!
