Invisible

Hey guys. My English teacher, Mrs. Baich, does this thing in her classes where if someone is acting up in the class, she makes them invisible. This is where if any student so much as looks at the invisible student or interacts with him/her in any way, they get 3 automatic detentions. Only the teacher is allowed to interact with them, which isn't supposed to happen anyway. The only way to make yourself be not invisible anymore is to beg to her on bended knee that you will not act up in class anymore.

What do you guys think?

It's an interesting way of doing things, but it's not fair for someone to get three detentions for looking at someone- that can happen by accident.

The begging thing.. sounds kind of wrong.

but I don't like how you get 3 DETENTIONS
just for looking at a student...

I take the "begging" thing back. She eventually withdrawed the invisibility for the student. It's just her way of getting students that are acting up to stop. According to her, the longest it's ever lasted for a student is 5 days, but it usually only lasts for that one class and then she talks to the student after class. I think it's funny. Harsh, but funny. Mrs. Baich hands out detentions like it's no big deal, which it really isn't when you serve the detention with her. She is an awesome teacher once you get to know her.

The threee detentions is stupid IMO. Now I have a few teachers that I could see doing this and it would just be very fun, because those are some crazy cool teachers. Also the students don't act uo crazily and immature in highschool by me, like its mostly fun and games when they act up and teachers have fun with it sometimes. If the three detentions are nothing and don't go on record, then it's not that bad....

Well, according to Mrs. Baich, in all her years of teaching high school, she never has given those 3 detentions. When someone is "invisible," no-one ever did do anything to get the 3 detentions. Hope that makes you feel better.

That's stupid, IMHO. I'm already invisible in almost all my classes. So would the teacher just make me be invisible?

Oh, I thought it was that, but I wasn't sure. I'm kinda slow tonight for some reason.

That is very wrong to make a student invisible. It can lower there self esteem. How would you like the whole class to pretend you don't exist and they get in serious trouble if they do acknoledge that person.

Your teacher needs some counseling or something.

I realize I'm in the minority here but if a highschool student cannot contain themselves, I see nothing wrong with containing it for them, even like this. Young adults at that age shouldn't need it to get to extremes like this but if they can't act their age, something needs to be done about it.

Like detention or another reasonable punishment. Not destroying there self esteem and making them an outcast. Do you realize that this is high school? Almost everyone is a little rebelious in HS. But do they turn out to be serial killers or bank robbers. Not most of the time. Some people need to lighten up a little bit and realize these kids are just teenagers.
