Invisible Facebooking?

Is there a way to log in and not have yourself show up on the chat feature? Sometimes I want to just check my messages and a chat invite shows up and I feel obliged to chat. Anyway to avoid that??

Yes there is! In the chat box, click on "options". There is an option that says "go offline". Click it, and then you will not show up on the chat. It should keep you offline every time you log into facebook after that. If you ever want to go online again, just click on the chat box in the bottom right hand corner, which will now say "chat (offline)" and it will put you back online for chat.

of course there is.

click on the little bar that says Chat (# of friends online)

hit Options

select "Go Offline"

and there you go! it keeps you offline, too; you don't have to do this everytime you log in.

i NEVER go on facebook chat, too many awkward conversations i really don't want to have
