You sleep in a bed at night, eat dinner each day, go to school, sleep peacefully knowing you won't be kidnapped by the LRA, the Lords Resistance Army, which is out to overthrow the Ungandan government. They take small children at night and force them to fight and kill. If they try to escape, they die, if they haven't for another reason already.

A civil war has been being fought in Uganda for almost 20 years. Children have suffered the most in almost 20 years worth of war, a war that disgustingly few have heard about. The UN is doing little, and what they have done has recently been cut in half.

Children are forced to flee their homes and hide whereever they can so the rebels don't displace them. They have seen friends and siblings die. Shots in the head, abuse, starvation, among the rest, have scarred the living and sent the victims to more peaceful places.

These are the invisible children.

Last Monday, our school was given a presentation by 3 male teenagers who went to Africa to explore what was happening and found all that was hidden, or invisible, to the rest of the world. It was the most heart wrenching thing I have seen in my 16 years of existence on this planet. Please, visit the website, http://www.invisiblechildren.com/home.php, check out what they're doing to try to make a difference in Uganda. If what you're seeing really impacts you, talk to an advisor at school, some sort of authority, and see if you can bring a presentation to your school. I promise it will change the way you see things.
