Inventions - Sat 1 Nov

I am agonising over booking Inventions on our Saturday night. I did toy with booking the Sunday brunch but have decided we want to spend as much time in the park on Sunday as poss, as it's our last day, and the 'theme' didn't appeal tbh.

It will be really expensive for all 4 of us and as it's a budget trip, I'm really not sure what to do. Thinking of going to Cafe Mickey on the Friday evening and just ordering pizzas to share etc. I don't really rate CM but figure the girls like it and it's a way of meeting some characters relatively cheaply!

Does anyone know/think the characters will be in Halloween costumes at Inventions on the Saturday evening? Or, do you think Halloween will be done by then? We did Sat eve on our last trip and it was Christmas season - it was wonderful as the characters were all in their Christmas outfits!

If we don't do Inventions, can anyone think of any other buffets in the MK park to try on the Sat eve? Thinking buffet to cut down on time, rather than table service which can end up being quite slow. We have also thought about CS but tbh, by the time you queue up it's not always the quicker option!

JTA - we haven't bought board vouchers - don't think they are worth it for this trip tbh.

There are two, Plaza Gardens and Agrabah Cafe. We've been to Plaza Gardens a couple of times, the qulity of food is good with plenty of choice; salads, carvery, casseroles, children's selection and sweets.Your experience can depend on where you're seated and your server. There is a lovely conservatory area, but you could be squashed in the middle and on one occasion our server didn't bring our drinks very quickly or clear up empty plates. However, it's a lot cheaper than inventions and it is in a lovely spot at the top of Mainstreet.

I would love to try Inventions, but my DD is a picky eater and at 17 I can't justify the adult price for her. It's such a shame they stopped the buffet in Luck Nugget Salloon , that was one of my favourites and reasonably priced.

How about doing Afternoon tea in the DLH on your last afternoon, that can be very relaxing and nice when you're feeling tired and don't have a hotel room to go back to.

We've been to Inventions on every trip and love it there - although I can see how people were getting a bit disenchanted with it a for a while as the quality of food did definitely slip. But out last trip, the food was amazing. It was a Saturday evening in Christmas season so I wonder if that was why they pulled out the stops a bit more .

I think I might try and book it (it may be full as it's going to be a busy weekend) and I can always cancel nearer the time.

I think my main worry is we book and then just see the usual '5' characters, some of which we may see at CM the night before and perhaps one or two of them at GF breakfast i.e. Mickey & Pluto etc.

On our older trips the characters at Inventions on an evening were great - saw some rarer ones which was always nice.

If they were in Halloween costumes I would definitely book, but I'm thinking that because Halloween is the night before, they probably won't be!?

I don't fancy Agrabah with the kids. But Plaza looks nice - not one we've done before but worth a try perhaps. I'll have a look at the price of that one.

TS wise, we've always done at least one night at Inventions, a lunch/tea at Walts, Blue Lagoon and CM really. We were lucky enough to do Cowboy Cookout while it was a character meal and that was spectacular! Shame they stopped it .

Thanks for that. I had heard they were trying out character lunches but wasn't sure when. Tbh I think I've talked myself out of Inventions this trip (our first one without doing it!). I'd rather spend the money in the park on bits for the girls and get a meal in the Lucky Nugget as it's somewhere we've never eaten and I like the look of it. Although I think to achieve this on the Saturday evening, we are going to have to eat at an usual time . I may change my mind before we go and I still have Inventions booked for the Saturday evening, but I suspect I will cancel it.

I hope they do have the characters in Halloween costume for you - it will be lovely if they do. On our last trip it was end November/early December for Christmas decs and we did Inventions on the Saturday evening and all the characters were in Christmas dress - it felt really special .

We've booked inventions lunch on 31st hoping for halloween characters. That's our best guess for halloween costumes, though we hadn't really even considered the Saturday as a day for them to be dressed up? Could happen. My reasoning was, they are pretty likely to be at the descent of the stairs dressed up so in theory should be at inventions just before... But it's all pot luck!
