Hi

I am trying to book a character lunch for our arrival day. We dont like the Cafe Mickey menu and Inventions offer a buffet.

Can anyone tell me what the buffet offers? What characters are there? Is it a sit down buffet? Or can you go up to the buffet bar yourself? Did anyone get a early discount? I have read on the DLP food guide guests arrival before 6pm may get a 20% discount?

Also we are camping will the hotel allow us into thier hotel? Do we need passes? Do we need to stay onsite anywhere before allowing us to eat here? Sorry I am sure these q's have been asked but I cant remember and so excited that I thought I would start another thread.

16 days to go wahoo :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:   :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks

Michelle

i dont know about lunch, but my family love going there for a charicter dinner, especially my little sister.
You are allowed in to any disney hotel to eat, regardless of where you stay, although i would reccomend booking before you go, so you can avoid disappointment and stress when you get there.
the charicters are very mixed, but some i can guarrentee are, pearla and suzie(the mice from cinderella), perhaps tweedle dum and dee, minnie and mickey, and so on.
the buffet has just about EVERYTHING! with stuff like prawns and salad to mini-burgers and kids stuff. and lovely desserts. it is a buffet where you go up yourself.
but if you are looking for a buffet charicter lunch, maybe you would like the character lunch in the lucky nugget salloon in frontierland? it has tex mex stuff and is 30.00 for adults and 15.00 for under 11's.
dont know about inventions price.
hope that helped!

The lunch buffet does not have characters which is why it is cheaper, you will have to go in the evening for the characters. You can go in any of the disney hotels for meals or drinks or just to have a look around.

Hi

Thank you wideeyes. That will explain why it is cheaper. Is the buffet the same? I might be able to persuade dh to go there?

I will have to phone and make some reservations. We have booked the Lucky Nugget Saloon twice. It would be nice to have a character meal the day we arrive, but we do not like the menu for the Cafe Mickey :sad2:

I am also upset that RainForest Cafe is so expensive as well. I am shocked. Never mind will need to sweet talk dh.

Hi

We did this for my DDs birthday - it was fantastic. Loads of characters, great food (loads of it - don't eat too much during the day) and a really good atmosphere. You'll have a great time and have made a really good choice!

BTW - the puddings are brilliant (I'm a pudding girl - literally!! :rotfl: )

Great choice, although it was the selection of starters that did it for me

Thanks for your advice. I cant wait it sounds so nice. We are leaving early for our ferrry so I will cook me and dh a breakfast and we taking rolls etc for our lunch if we eat those at midday we should be ready to eat at 7:00pm. It sounds really nice and cant wait to go.

Hi Michelle
Do you know do you have to book the restaurants up before you go (from England)? eg Invention character dinner??
If so could you tell me how you do this?
I thought you just made reservations while you were their? Sorry i am new to all this, this is our first trip
Thanks Estelle

Hi

You can make your reservations when your out there, but I tend to book to avoid dissapointment. We booked all our reservations prior to leaving in Florida so we have dont have to worry.

here is a link to resturants, menus and reservations

Estelle, the vast majority of people wait and book restaurants when they get to DLRP and do not have any problems. However, if you want to eat at a particular place on a particular day and time, then I would advise booking, you can do this on 00 33 1 60 30 40 50 up to 60 days in advance.

I prefer to book in advance so that I can plan my day around my meal! ;) :rotfl:

Hi. We've never made advanced reservations we just sort them out on the first day there either at the hotel concierge or at the restaurant. Even last week when it was mega busy it was not a problem!

Thanks for all your replies i cannot believe what a friendly site this is, with so much useful information and tips.

Elaine, i know what you mean about planning your day around your meal my kind of planning. However i have still not worked out which are the best restaurants, preferable buffet without not completely breaking the bank. My other requirement is to find the cheapest beer is it really 7 euro's a pint, obviously i need to keep my other half happy!! as he is not that keen on the whole DLP queing and waiting so i need to keep him sweet.

Thanks once more to you all, only 18 days to go, can i keep this a secret from my 2 little girls for another 18 days!!! that will be a miracle

we need to see photos of when you finally tell then. i think you are wonderful to have kept this a secret for so long.

Estelle, have you checked out this site? If you click on the name of the restaurant, then on "menu", then on "specials" you will get prices of drinks. :drinking1 Even if some of the prices are a little out of date, it will give you a good idea. I have read before that prices do differ around the resort.

We've done Innventions for Breakfast and it was great. Well worth it all. We've also done dinner and the food was just fantastic. Although the meal was halted by ds getting his arm stuck through the hole in his high chair. They thought they were going to have to saw him out as we couldn't get his arm out at all.

Hi Estelle

We were meant to keep ours a secret, but we told our little girl in the end. Last yr we went to FL and we didnt tell her. We pretended she was up early in the morning as we were meant to get a computer part for Bruces computer. When we arrived at the hotel she was more interested why we tricked her  That kind of back fired on to us. I am sure you will be fine. Try and keep it a secret for as long as you can.
