Ok so the planning has commenced for our December trip and my mind automatically turns to dinner :lmao:

We ate in Inventions in June 2010 and were totally gutted, the service was poor, the food so so and character interaction basic, oh and mum was ill presumably from the fish ... needless to say I was unimpressed for my most expensive meal.

I know many others seem to highly rate Inventions and I am contemplating giving it another go, since it's such an expensive risk I want to really make an informed decision so .....

Can anyone tell me why they love or hate Inventions? Also if anyone has recently visited or plans to visit share their experience?

Thanks :thumbsup2

Got to admit that I'm with you on this one. For the price we paid, I was very disappointed with Inventions.

My wife thought the food was good, but that's because she loves shellfish and there were plenty of options for her. I on the other hand, really struggled to fill my plate - I'll admit that I am a little fussy when it comes to my food, but I didn't have this problem with the buffets at Plaza Gardens or Rendez-Vous de Stars (which I also thought was far superior in terms of quality of food as well).

Characters kept on walking by our table - we might get a wave, but I'm guessing that because we didn't have kids with us, it seemed they didn't think they needed to stop for photos or any interaction. While I didn't book Inventions specifically for the characters, it was a little disappointing to be virtually ignored. And I will admit that it wasn't that they were having a bad day and ignoring everyone - all the children I saw were getting the character attention that they deserved and that's only right, I'd have just liked some interaction as well.

Service - well I've had better at DLP and I've had worse. Our drinks came quickly on first order, but getting a replacement took a very long time.

Overall, I'd rather have had another meal at RVDS - half the price, better quality and range of food and you get to see Remy!

We've eaten here three times now and always been happy. The last time we ate here in May we all enjoyed the food, the service was fine (like Steve we've also had both better and worse at DLP) and the characters all stopped for photos and a bit of interaction every time they passed our table. We didn't see as many characters as we have on the two previous visits nor did we get the fantastic interaction we'd had before but this is because the restaurant was very busy whereas on the previous times it had just been us for at least half an hour so on those occasions we were very spoiled.

It's a tough decision - it's a lot of money to pay out and even more so when you're not sure. We weren't very impressed with Plaza Gardens the one time we ate there so are reluctant to return but in Steve's post above he preferred it.

Where else are you thinking of eating?

Thanks for both your replies, I have a while to mull it over :rolleyes1

Where else are you thinking of eating?

I was thinking about inventions for the Friday evening, looking at previous years the park will close at 7pm so it's a toss up between this and Cafe Mickey. If it was for me we'd be going to the California Grill :goodvibes

We have eaten here twice, March and May. I have to say it's one of my favourite places, that said we are all big fish fans including DS (4) so the food is to our taste. That said I do think the starters, fish stuff and puddings are better than the main courses.

Both times we have gone at 6.30 so it's started of reasonably quiet. Always had good character interaction there as well, does take a while to se all the characters but have never felt rushed.

It's probably first on my list for our next trip.

Do you have a shareholders card as the discount makes it slightly less pricey?

I do have the discount thank goodness as I think it came to over 170 euros even with it for two adults and a child!

I'm sure we went about the same time, the character interaction just felt a little dry, she saw quite a few in there but they just didn't seem that playful :confused3 I'm a vegetarian so that probably doesn't help but in truth I'd have been happy to pay the price if the experience was good, I did really enjoy the desserts

I have been there twice too

once in November 2010 and once in June 2011 - both times the food was amazing, well prepared, very tasty and you get for what you pay for (imo).

the staff were also very attentive, both times the waiting staff we freindly, funny and were most helpful - well worth the tip we left them.

the charater interaction was also good - we always go for the early 6pm sitting as we have a little one and sit by the buffet where the characters come out.

BRILLIANT - not sure if we are just lucky - but Innventions and Cafe Mickey are our favourite places to eat at DLP

I am thinking I will just go for it again and hope the second time around is better, I must add I am not a buffet person. Dd wants to give it another go, so she's the boss ..... well at disney anyway ;)

Thanks for starting this thread, I'm interested in what everyone has to say too. It's on my probably list at the moment. I'm a vegetarian too, so I'm thinking it's not going to be great for me, but not everywhere is anyway on that front & I think the fact it is a buffet & the characters seriously out weigh any negatives with a toddler that doesn't like to sit still

I'd be particularly interest if anyone could add further information about the vegetarian offerings - proper veggy, no fish or seafood :thumbsup2

Well although it's 3 months off, as it stands Inventions is on my plan so I'll let you know River :goodvibes

It's such a long time ago I can't really remember anything about the food options, we were sat opposite the buffet with a lovely view. It may be because we'd had such outstanding service at our other meals or maybe I'd built it up too highly, I'm certainly more of a quality over quantity person and I do recall mum's plate being full of water from the prawns and of course her being ill

The desserts were gorgeous though the lovely new york cheesecake has stuck in my head even over a year later :rotfl:
