Introduction and Pre-Trip Report (of sorts)

So R says "Why don't we go to Orlando in October to see Renee and then do Halloween at the parks?" After making sure he isn't suffering from some horrible tropical fever, I start the planning. [I'm a type-A when it comes to planning trips; R is just content to go along for the ride. It all evens out, though -- he gets anal about other things -- day-to-day living things -- that I could care less about. "Artsy" v. "practical", remember?]

Wednesday, October 28, 2009: Fly into MCO, rent a car, and head out to Windermere to see Renee. I hate getting up for early flights, so we leave Memphis at 1:00-something PM and get to Orlando at 4:00-something PM. Perfect!

Thursday, October 29, 2009: Spend all day with Renee. See the many sights of Windermere and environs.

Friday, October 30, 2009: Get up early (funny how I hate getting up for early flights, but when it comes to getting to Disney, I don't mind it all. Go figger), head over to one of the parks. I haven't decided which one yet....

BUT I had a great thing come our way, just by happenstance. In the course of regular conversation with a business colleague of mine over the phone, I mentioned that I'd be out of the office for a bit in October. She asked where we were going, and I said "Orlando. Disney. Halloween." Well. She then tells me that she's from Orlando, her mom is a senior business person for Disney, and that I should let her know when we were going...because her mom will come and meet us at T&T and sign us in to the park with ParkHopper privileges. GRATIS.

At first I demurred, but after checking the prices, I reversed my stance. I hadn't checked tix prices for Disney in a long time, and was kind of surprised at the cost. There's a catch, though -- we can't be signed in for a 3 day period -- it has to happen EACH DAY. Which means mom would have to come over and meet us every morning. To me, that would be a little much, a big imposition on her, and I wasn't willing to do that, especially on the weekends. I mean who wants to leave their house on the weekend, brave traffic out to Disney property, just to sign in to the parks 2 people you don't really know? Didn't bother me so much for the weekdays (her office is right there on-property), but weekends? Uh, no.

So we're going to utilize this VERY KIND OFFER on Friday and Monday, and be responsible for ourselves on Saturday (Halloween!) and Sunday.

But I digress. Friday we go to a Disney park, and then afterwards check into our hotel.

Ah, our hotel...which is a whole other saga.

For the next post. :yay:

Lot-o-words not much skin so far.

Wally, when I figure out how to post pictures, quotes, etc., I'll remedy that situation. Have patience, Grasshopper.

Patience is not my virtue. :sad2:

You have a virtue?

... And what ta hell does that mean?
I can do subtle.:snooty:

I said that you're the one with either the devil signature or the hello kitty signature. Those are indeed hard to miss. What's confusing about that?

And maybe you CAN do subtle, but you rarely DO!

Just want to reassure you that we read your posts as well as let ourselves indulge in banter. I think it's great that your friend offered this wonderful perk and that you are going to use it without burdening her mom. :thumbsup2

As for Rob and Elmo...Personally I don't think he did it. I think Louis did it and is just trying to throw the suspicion off himself.

Your loved, your first post and it's been hijacked!!! Welcome aboard!! ;)

Group travel is REALLY difficult. We went with friends in 2006 too, and our touring styles are just different. I am pretty rigid as far as touring so it made me crazy. Plus our friends wanted to be in a group the whole time. They said they came on the trip to spend time with us. We love our friends, but at home we don't spend every waking minute with them for a week at a time.

They actually suggested that I reserve a 2 Br. villa for a future trip so we can all stay together. I don't think that will be happening. :)

I'm with YOU! Having dinner, drinks, and maybe doing A park together, yeah, sounds good...sharing a room, I think NOT! :scared1:

That's a filthy lie and you know it

I have a perfectly good alibi.

I was in church at the time
