Yes, I just heard this on FOX News. They also aired a statement that Tom Hanks is doing the voice about the change. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other. I just hope everybody who does care is happy. Play ball!

I still have an Indians sweatshirt with a Chief Wahoo logo on it. Bought it back around 1988 when we went to a game at the Mistake by the Lake stadium and it got windy and chilly after sunset.

I like it. The name needed to go. So glad they got rid of that awful mascot a few years ago, it was an embarrassment.

My initial feeling is that the name sounds off because it's a hard G instead of the soft I sound at the beginning.

Both names have three syllables with an s at the end. So that helps with the flow of the name. For comparison, the Edmonton Canadian football team changed their name from Eskimos to Elks. Which retains the "E" but the single syllable feels very abrupt and still feels a bit unnatural.

I think that, with time, Guardians will work out fine. Just a bit too soon to give a definitive yea to.

I was really kind of them expecting to go with the Cleveland Spiders (a nod to one of the earlier professional baseball teams in Cleveland). I think the Guardians works, it's not "exciting," but it's not terrible either.

I'm not thrilled with the choice, but I guess I'll get used to it. Guardians is much better than the name being discussed in the media, the Spiders. That I would have not liked at all.

They could have brought back this song. River Inferno. It's catching fire with everyone!!!!! Although naming them the Cleveland Pretenders after Akron's finest would have been nice too.

I actually just purchased one of the old Indians hats with the Chief Wahoo logo on it before they are gone. Loved that hat growing up. I had one that I wore almost every day.
