I haven't been on here for a few weeks so I don't know if this article has been poasted. I'm sorry if it has. It has some intresting info about the cruise line:boat:

Disney Article

Travis

Thanks for the article. Certainly something to think about.

Where in Central PA are you? I am NE of Philly but my family is in York and Fulton County.

I found the article unique in regards to the cruise info. Royal Caribbean has recently ordered the new Mega-Voyager class ship as a result of a favorable Euro-Dollar exchange. They had been waiting for this combination (or at least that was their reason given for delays) as well. I wonder why Royal Caribbean found the exchange favorable, but Disney has not.

Should be interesting to watch...

Thanks for posting the article.

I think it would be great to consider a DCL cruise from California or in the Mediterranean!

Spaceship Earth could use an updated ride at EPCOT.

Soaring Over California is a GREAT ride -I sure hope they bring it to Florida!!!

They also should do a replica of the Disneyland Indiana Jones ride in Orlando - that ride rocks!

denise5374 I live in Philipsburg PA.....24 miles from State College. Have you ever heard of it?

Woulden't that be fun if they ordered more then one ship so that way they would have one for the west coast, east coast, Mediterranean and ASIA!!!!! Or even more ports of call in the caribbean.......like Jamaica ::yes::

Get to work Disney!!!!!! WE WANT ANOTHER SHIP!!!!!!!!! :boat:
The only bad things about having ships on different coasts is no Castaway Cay! We look forward to seeing it at at the end of our cruise!

Travis

However they could do a Panama canal cruise and get the best of both worlds! ha-ha :scratchin

Great article. Thanks for posting it, Travis.

Different ports of call in the Caribbean would be nice. I would like a stop in Jamaica too (Ocho Rios - to walk the water falls). But the more I hear about Jamaica, the less I want to have a stop there. Even in the tourist areas, crime / muggings/murders are increasing at an alarming rate.

For us in the west a DCL ship on the west coast would be really nice.

I understand that The Land Pavilion will be geting Soaring Over California sometime in the next year or two. We westerners need some new / innovative / FUN rides (DCA really doesn't count, with the excption of Soaring and California Screaming the very few rides are typical carnival type rides. Watching sour dough bread being made and watching tortillas being made really does not count as an attraction). We are getting Tower of Terror. From the sounds of it though it is going to be stripped down version of the one and Disney-MGM.

Travis....Yes I have heard of it although I am not sure exactly where it is. I spent last weekend up at Knoebels. A great amusement park! I love the section of the state and would love to move there some day!

That Calfornia Soaring ride sounds so cool! For those of you that have been to DCA and Disneyland, is it worth the trip?

About a Hawaiian cruise for Mickey and his friends??

denise5374: it is the entire reason to go to DCA. If you have not been before, it is like nothing you have ever experienced. Funny, I hear that about Mission:Space as well.

:moped:

My plan was in 2005 to do the whole California thing. Disneyland, DCA, Knotts Berry Farm and the other one it used to be Magic Mountain but I think it is called something different now. It has to be 2005 because AUg. 2004, we are back on DCL!!! (had to be sort of on topic)

Think thats too much for a week..I would have to fly out since I am in PA and rent a car. I (we) are coaster nuts and they have some great looking ones in CA!!!!

We are making our third trip to Jamaica - this time during the December holidays. Jamaica is a very beautiful place and we never felt afraid. The thing is that the merchants are very aggressive - especially with the people that come off the cruise ship for the day. It is because the merchants feel that they have just one shot to make some money from the people on the cruise ship as they will only be there for a few hours.

If you get to spend some time in Jamaica - especially away from the tourist areas and meet the local people - you won't regret it. The first time we went, we thought it would be our one and only trip to Jamica and we are returning for our third stay in less than 2 years.

I know that DCL is looking into other Caribbean ports of call. I'm hoping for a Southern Caribbean DCL cruise, or a Panama Canal cruise, although a Hawiian cruise sounds nice, too! Oh just build the ship, we'll cruise anywhere!

As for Jamaica, Ocho Rios frightened me...and this coming from someone who lived in downtown Philadelphia, and Chicago.

denise5374...Did you enjoy the craft fair at Knoebel's last week? It's a great family park!

The first minutes of the ride were SO realistic, with the wind, smells, mist, seat movement and sound effects I had a stomach-churningly hard time convincing myself that I was only sitting in a theatre seat, not hanging my body over the Golden Gate Bridge.
What a rush!

Yes...we had a great time, Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate but we went anyway. We love that park!!

Thanks for asking!!

Love crusin' DCL (there we "on topic") Going again in '04.

Denise: You can Disneyland & DCA in three days without to much trouble (just start when the parks open in the morning). Soaring Over California is a way cool ride, it seems like a 3D movie but it is not (it's an Omni Max movie - IMAX projected in a dome) and the seats move with the movie. California Screamin' is a very very good rollercoaster (nothing like Space Mountain, Big Thunder or the Matterhorn). Disneyland is still a very special place and 2005 is its 50th anniversary! Hopefully they will do something special for Disneyland, but most of the attraction budget is being spent in Florida.

Knotts Berry Farm is an easy one day trip. They have some great thrill rides along with the classic Knotts attractions. Be sure to get some of their famous chicken (from the Chicken to Go take out place rather than taking the time for the sit down dinner (the dinner is very good, very reasonable priced).

Magic Mountain is still called Magic Mountain (or its full "official" name is Six Flags Magic Mountain). Its an 1 to 1 1/2 hours north of Disneyland on I5 (traffic can make it over 2 hours though). They are billing themselves as an Xtreme Coaster Park. They have a lot of rollercoasters that will drop, twist, flip you every which way. Many of the coasters are cutting edge (or were cutting edge when they were built). Love all of them. Can't wait to go back. In the summer (especially August) it gets very hot there (dry heat and over 100). In order not to kill yourselves, two days there and you can do it all (taking a break during the middle of the day). They also have a seperate gated water park that is call Hurricane Harbor. It is a very good water park.

Thank you so much for your input. I greatly appreciate it. Do you live in California? How's the weather in mid-June? My DH is a teacher who teaches in summer also, so we are limited to when we can go. It would be either around Fathers Day in June or the last 2 weeks of AUgust. Talk about planning ahead....LOL

When in 2004 are you cruising DCL? there back on topic!!

I grew up in SoCal. I'd pick June over August because it's usually a little cooler, at least it's a dry heat. It might be slightly busier over Father's Day, but anytime in the summer is going to be crowded. I haven't been to DCA yet, but I'm planning on checking it out in March when I'm home for my sister's wedding.

Hopefully, while you're enjoying DLR in 2005, we'll be on our cruise. :sunny:
