I am curious if there is anyone who has a Intrathecal Pain Pump that has gone to WDW ?

I was diagnosed with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome last year. Which means their is nothing left to do surgery on and I still have pain. They implanted a pump under my right rib cage. The pump is a little smaller than a hockey puck. A catheter runs from the pump to the spinal canal and it delivers morphine or whatever drug the doctor has filled it with.

My wife and I are interested in going to WDW for our 25th anniversary and I am trying to think what rides I should not go on. I don't want to dislodge or kink the catheter or pump. Here are a few that comes to mind......

Epcot Mission Space, Space Mountain, Dinosaur ride in AK, Thunder Mountain

I am not sure about Expedition Everest or Rockin Roller coaster. I don't recall them being bouncy and jerky.

Anyone have any suggestions or experiences ??

Thanks,

Patrick

Is this similar to a baclofen pump? Surgically implanted?

If so...your doctor should be able to give you a pretty good list of what you would be able to do.

Lauren has a baclofen pump - but she can't go on the thrill rides anyway. I know they won't let her go on any big water park rides anymore (we used to be able to carry her to the top and send her down).

The other thing they have cautioned is avoiding things that would create a large pressure drop?

I would avoid ToT, any roller coaster - obviously. Maybe anything that spins too much.

But we also had some surprising issues with rides like It's A Small World (very bumpy at the beginning of the ride) and Toy Story (the way it jerks you around surprised us).

Hope that helps. Seems like there was a thread fairly recently where some more rides were brought up that could cause issues that you wouldn't think of.

And I am sure Sue will be along shortly to provide info, too. :)
