Hi All,

I am having a very intimate wedding in Dec at the Wilderness Lodge terrace...me, my DFi and my DS8.

My question is this...

Have any of you had the terrace decorated to make it a little more "special"? Flowers, tule, etc? If so, please post pics...TIA!!!

Lauren

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! DH and I loved, loved, loved the WL Sunrise Terrace - it was SO romantic and private :cloud9: It is really beautiful there and the pictures taken in the lobby and on the grounds after the ceremony - simply gorgeous!

We didn't do much in the way of decorating, it didn't need it. There is a garbage can out there that they refused to remove, and a small round table where I wanted to put my mom's remembrance rose. So, I got 2 tablecloths in our wedding colors and my best friend and my MOH covered the can and the table. Then, DH and I made silk floral bouquets in glass vases with marbles in our colors and they put one on top of the covered can and one on the cake table. I'll tell you this, no one knew it was a garbage can after it was decorated! I had a special vase for my mom and Disney Floral provided her favorite color rose, peach, and that was set on the round table close to my daddy. The only other thing we did was a co-worker made bows for the benches. She got special pew holders and they attached super easy to the benches. I thought about having an aisle runner but my EM said you can't have one at WL because there is no place to attach it.

If you'd like to send me a PM and I'll give you the link to our wedding photos so you can see what we did. Here is one pic where you can sort of see the bows. I didn't take a pic of the covered up garbage can but trust me, you'll want to cover that up!

Hi Lauren! I am getting married in Dec, and staying at the WL! When is your wedding?

I like what Jen did for her intimate. It was just right, I think. I like how she made it look like a rustic chapel, like you would see in the mountains. The only other idea I hav for a Dec wedding is maybe decorating the railing with some greenery. "Deck the halls with boughs of holly" kinda deal. Not sure if Disney will allow it, but you could ask.

Maybe use tulle for that arch under where you stand (look at Jens photos) if you wanted to do that. Really, the focal point is the two of you, and the view. Not sure it needs much else, except like Jen said, cover up the non-removable trash can...

Hi Kimnkel,

We are getting married on 12/29...what is your date?

Thanks for responding to my inquiry! All the best!

Lauren

Hey Lauren! I really should have done the math (doh!) I didn't notice your ticker until after I asked...hmm...I guess a job at a <real> CSI lab is not a career option...

Our date is Dec. 14. I am really looking forward to it--how about you and December 29? Does it seem like it will never get here, or what? Your DS is going to love it! Have ya'll been before? I have been to Disneyland tons of times, but I haven't been to WDW since I was 11. I hope the WL is as pretty as they say! Ya'll doing MVMCP?

I wish you the best of everything to you as well, Lauren! :goodvibes

Just to let you know also, there really isn't any place on the Terrace to attach anything. I wanted an aisle runner, but my EM said there is no place to attach it. I'm afraid it would be the same thing to try to put things on the wood on the balcony. You could probably attach bows or some flowers on the metal parts of the railing. Really, though, like you said, it is a breathtaking view and it doesn't need much in the way of decoration. I added the bows so it was more "wedding" instead of just plain benches. And yes, definitely cover the garbage can! I can't understand why they cannot remove it for an hour :sad2:

Best Wishes to both of you on your upcoming weddings. I cannot believe it's been almost a year since my WL wedding - it was a most magical day :cloud9:
