Hi everyone,

We're having an Intimate Wedding in March of 2006. Our guest list will probably be about 18 people total and we are looking for ideas for what to do as a dinner reception. We want to have dinner somewhere nice, preferably with a variety of cuisines. I'd prefer to wear our wedding attire but it's not a deal breaker for me. I've heard that there are restaurants which overlook the fireworks but have not been able to find any information online. We also would prefer to spend no more than 50/person if possible. Does anyone have any ideas or know where I could find more information? Also, do any of the restaurants have private rooms where we can set the menu selections? I guess I almost want some of the aspects of a real wedding reception dinner without the WHOLE reception. I'm so confused I'm confusing myself! :confused3

We had dinner at Narcoosee's and we loved it. Our ceremony was at the WP and we have the cake cutting at comander's terrace at GF. Our dinner reservations were for 7:30 and service was sloooow. The waiter recommended the filet mignon (even though it is technically a seafood resturant) and i think almost everyone ended up ordering it. The food was good even thgouh as I said it was slow. But the best part and the reason i chose the resturant was for the view. It sits right on the water and has a great view of MK. We watched the water parade from our dinner table. We finished dinner at 9:57 and Wishes started at 10. We walked out to the porch that surrounds the resturant and they dimmed the light and had speakers playing the Wishes music and so we had a great view of the fireworks and it was defintatly the best part of dinner. The slow service (a blessing in disguise since id din't think we'd see the fireworks) would have cost us an extra hour on the limo- not a big deal but they didn't end up charging us. We wore our wedding attire and didn't have a prob even thoguh we had two more poeple than we had reservations for. dinner for 11 was somewhere around $5-600. We had trouble finding good info on what resturant to use too and I ended up choosing Narcooses based on the one picture i had seen of that showed it's view of the castle. Hope I've helped with info on at least one option. Sorry I don't have more

you shouldnt have a problem with the resort restaurants & your dress you're just not allowed to wear your wedding dress in the parks (unless your event is there) or the dessert parties (unless youre a custom bride).

there's the cali grill which offers 2 private rooms & offers a fabolous view of mk & the fireworks but has a minimum to use. citricos at the gf has a private room but only fits 14/15? there's the summerhouse outside at the gf which can be used for private dinners too and there's ariels at the beach club which is a private room (we're having our custom wedding reception there). there's also the attic at the boardwalk which is a private room & offers a balcony with views of illuminations. there's palio at the swan which has a private room. you can also rent out a suite at one of the resorts & have dinner catered or room serviced in. i've heard of groups doing that, just contact the resort to set it up. another option is a dinner show like the hoopdeedorevue or the polynesian luau which has a set menu & show which runs about $50/adult $40/child.

most restaurants dont offer a private room but they will try to seat you together in a corner area at the first dinner seating normally 5pm.

best of luck with your intimate wedding reception.

We had our dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse. It was fantastic! No view of fireworks though. We had 11 for dinner, a table in the back and hardly noticed anyone else in the restaurant even though it was busy. The price was around $1000 with tip. We had customized menu's for the guests with no prices showing and basically the full menu was available.

If you chose to have your reception at a resturant, or on one of the cruises, can you just not have the cake cutting ceremony and just have them deliver the cake to wherever your reception is?

Thats what we did. We had a very short cake cutting, then the cake (which was delicious, btw) was served as dessert at the resturant

That is what we did. Our reception was also at Narcoossee's. We had the fireworks view! Everything was perfect and we worked with the Group Dining Manager to customize the menu so that our guests could only be offered dinner choices that would work within our budget. The best part was that we got to wear our wedding attire! :goodvibes

Hi! Did you have an Intimate Wedding or a Custom? If you don't mind my asking, how many guests did you have? Thanks!

We're going to have dinner at O'Hanas then as a treat to our guests we booked the Grand One yacht for a fireworks cruise.

I can't wait!!

Oh that sounds so nice, I would want to do that. Even though you went with O'Hanas, is it possible to have dinner on the Grand One for like a little reception? Was it hard to reserve the yacht? Did you have to call at 7am 190 days before (or whenever the earliest day you can reserve is?)

Oops, I guess I should have said we had an intimate wedding at Sunset Pointe. It was at 9 am, so we did a fake cake cutting and they just boxed it up for us to take to dinner where they served it as dessert, which cut a HUGE cost out of our dinner bill. We were a party of 17 total, but that included 4 kids.

My absolutely wonderful travel agent called for me and reserved it. I think it was 90 days. They do have a menu you can choose from care of Grand Floridian Private Dining I believe. I'll see if I can find any of the info and will let ya know.

we had a 10:00 am initmate VR at the WP with Cake Cutting reception at GF then limo/monorail to the Concourse Steakhouse for lunch - custom menu, no prices, personalized.

THere were 14 of us total - so we had two different flavors for the 2 level cake and served one layer at the reception and one layer after lunch, it worked our perfectly.

The Food was excellent, the atmoshpere was great - nice yet still kid friendly (monorails to view). After lunch we went our on the observation deck and took pictures with the castle in the background - this would be a great spot to view the fireworks (they pipe in the music).

I was very happy with this choice, the location, service, food, etc.
