Intimate Guest List Dilemma

Hello!
My DFi and I have booked Sunset Pointe and have our maximum 8 guests in place. We are also planning for an Illuminations cruise after the reception (max 10 people?).

Here's my question, as some of our friends find out that we are having our wedding at Disney, those we thought would not be interested in attending are hinting that they would make the trip.

Does anyone know if it's possible to have more than 8 guests at Sunset Pointe? (If so, I'm sure there would be a price attached to that...) And what might be a good alternative to the Illuminations cruise for 12 people max?

I don't know about adding more people at Sunset. We had our Intimate at WL Sunrise Terrace under the "old rules" and it was 8 guests max period. There were several friends who wanted to come to Disney and to the wedding but we were very honset with them, that we had a max guest number, and that was that. Actually, the guest list limit was one major factor in choosing an Intimate vs. a Custom as I have 100 cousins and didn't want the feeling of obligation to invite all of them. Anyway, what we did was have a day-after brunch and went to MK and PI the next day and evening so our friends who could not "fit" at the wedding could still celebrate with us and we all had a great time! It was a perfect solution for us and no one complained about it (at least not to my face ).

I don't think it will be a problem having more people @ Sunset Pointe. We got married there in 2004 and had 10 guests. We also turned people down who wanted to come...BUT when we got there the EM said we could have had more people b/c Sunset Pointe has so much room!

I would ask your EM.

Check with your EM...I believe the maximum number of guests at Sunset Pointe is now 10. I guess they've had some "safety issues".

I know megan926 had more...and I once read a "blog" for a lady who had something like 70 guests there but lately I've been hearing the limit is far less even though it does look big enough for more!

The maximum number of guests for an intimate wedding is 20 (INCLUDING the bride and groom). However, if you notice on the disney wedding website, under the intimate weddings "locations" section for Sunset Pointe there is a note that says "**Some ceremony locations have a maximum occupancy of 10 guests total."

Nearly all of the other sites (with the possible exception of Sunrise Terrace at the Wilderness Lodge) will easily accommodate the 20 guest limit.

I just know that several brides over the past six months or so have been told by Disney that Sunset Pointe only accommodates 10 guests total.

No matter what anyone here tells you, you should ALWAYS talk to your Event Manager...Disney changes things frequently!

My DH2B and I are getting married at Sunset Pointe on Nov.4 2006. They only allow 10 people including the bride and groom. no if, ands, or buts, b/c of safety hazards they say. I tried adding two more guests which were a 5yr and a 7 yr old and they said no. so we had to cut down and finally got it to 10 including us. So it is 10 max period!! Good luck with ur guest list and we hope everything goes well.

Thanks for everyone's insights! To be honest, I would rather just stick to the 8 people we already have. With the welcome dinner, gals/guys day out, reception and etc, I'm thinking that each additional guest at this point would add about $400 per person. I would rather spend the extra money on the people who are already attending... or a nice honeymoon dinner for ourselves!!

So I have let my DFi know that we are limited by our guest count at Sunset Pointe and that is that!
