Intimate brides - what did you do after your cake cutting reception?

Hi, i am not being bias here; custom brides can of course give some feedback. I don’t know what I would do without this site - I think I would be an emotional wreck; i am not joking!
I seem to change my mind like the wind! I haven’t got a clue what we are going to do after our cake cutting reception at the Grand Floridian. I really need to pull my socks up as I need to make ADRs at the end of the month. There are 17 of us in total various ages from 2 up to 60 years the Wedding Ceremony starts at 2pm so I guess cake cutting reception will end about 3.30pm. At first I was thinking about Citricos but decided against this as I didn’t think it would be fair on the children and thought it may be a bit too formal; I guessed that me and my husband to be would go somewhere 'posh' one night on our own without the children.
I then decided upon 1900 Park Fare - it’s in the Grand Floridian so no worries of transporting everyone (even though we have the limo) but I had a look on the Disney’s Restaurant board and there are not that many reviews on there? Mixed responses but I thought it would be lovely to have pictures taken with Cinderella and Prince Charming. I am so confused! Help!!! Any suggestions would be great or should I stick with 1900 Park fare? I also had a look into the Grand Gatherings dessert party at Epcot - that looks cool but id really like to go somewhere where I could keep my dress on.

We are doing dinner at 1900 Park Fare after our vow renewal. We have eaten there before and I think the food is pretty good. Granted, it is a buffet, but there are some different items there as well--i.e., Strawberry Soup. They also have prime rib and usually some kind of fish as well. So, there is something for everyone. Also, once you are seated, there is no waiting to give your order, then waiting for your food, etc. That's always important with kids (at least mine!)--they don't like to wait.

Intimate brides can also book the Illuminations dessert party at EPCOT. You can wear your dress if you book transportation through DFTW. They will pick you and your guests up after dinner and transport you through a back entrance into EPCOT. You may not walk through the park wearing your dress. Their transportation is roughly $500. In addition you would have the cost of your actual dessert party with a minimum of $20 per person plus the cost of your location--anywhere from $200 up. If you choose not to use Disney transportation through the back entrance, then you can still have your Illuminations party, but you cannot wear your dress into the park.

We currently have two boats booked for the Magic Kingdom fireworks cruise following dinner on the night of our vow renewal. I am still debating if we are going to keep them, or just call it a night after dinner. I had originally wanted the Grand I so that we could all be on one boat, but it was already booked for our date. Since we are now on two of the pontoon boats, it doesn't seem to hold as much appeal for me.

I just found this site and I'm so excited. We were a smaller group when my mom renewed her vows and we went to Victoria and Alberts which by the way is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire world!!!

We are getting married during the Disney Wonder cruise on April 25. We are going parasailing right after. We have had a little bumpy road the past few weeks and this site actually has me excited again!!!!

Do you know if you can wear your dress to 1900 Park Fare? I'm still unsure of where you can and can't wear your dress...(granted, I have time to wait--May 08) But I like to be prepared.

You can wear your dress to any of the resorts/restaurants that are not inside the parks. Bridal parties are not allowed into the parks in wedding attire unless they are custom or have a Disney escort.

.Mommy Poppins - Thanks for the info, i am really interested in the dessert party. $500 for transportation? That’s a little steep isn’t it! What I got to work out now is if I think its that important to wear my dress but I know what ill be like - there is no way I would want to take it off. Money being an issue would it be possible to do it the night before? I think maybe after having cake at the reception and having a main meal it might be a waste of money as I doubt we will all feel like eating again. All the possibilities! I am really glad you like 1900 Park Fare; i am looking forward to the strawberry soup as well!

I agree with you about have a desert party after the food and cake. I think I have decided to skip paying the 12.50pp for viewing and 17.50pp for cake and then it says $100pp plus the site rental fee. It would have been 7,575. for me to have my desert party on top of the dinner/cake which is about the same price. I am going to just do the Private Firework show at the wedding pavillon for 2,500. I save alot more and there are no more fees!

Our intimate ceremony was at 3pm at sunset pointe- by the time we'd done with the ceremony the cake and the photos it was past 5.30. We went for drinks in the bar at wilderness lodge and then did the 7pm wishes cruise - fireworks were at 8. we got back to WL at 8.30 then went over to the Outback restaurant for dinner at 9pm.

I stayed in my dress the whole time - the wishes cruise was fantastic I organised it as a surprise for DH and my guests and they loved it - said it was a highlight of the day :

We are having an intimate wedding at Sea Breeze Point on 12/18/06 at 3p.m. After the ceremony we are having dinner at the Maya Grill at Coronado Springs (where we are staying). I still wanted the dessert party so we are having it the night before the wedding as kind of a "welcome party" for our guests. Since I won't be in my gown we don't have to pay the $500.00 for special transportation. HTH

We got married at Sunset at 3 also. Then we had dinner at 5 at Yachtsman Steakhouse. They were wonderful.

We ate at 1900 while on our honeymoon, and had a great time. My only concern would be that it's a buffet so you want to make sure your dress is bustled or has a removable train so you don't trip or trip anyone else in line.

That was one of my concerns as well, but decided that DH could get DD and I food!! LOL Also, my in-laws and my sister and her family will be there so someone will be able to help us out if we have a problem. My DD's dress is pretty full, but mine shouldn't be too bad! I'm more concerned with the boys and their tuxes--I should probably ask about stain insurance. LOL

we went to the contemporary (the limo took us) and had dinner at chef mickeys, i decided on it cos i wanted the characters but couldnt justify the cost to have them at the cake cutting. everyone really enjoyed it, and it'd be really good for the kids. there are some photos from the dinner in the link in my signature.
after dinner we took the monorail back over to the GF for a wishes cruise
