I am getting married August 6th 2007 at 2:30 at the wedding pavilian. Those of you that have had intimate receptions.. have you ever gotten anything to drink other than champagne?? My family isn't into the whole champagne thing, and my dad thinks it's weird that he can't get a beer or a glass of wine!! Is there any way to get more of a selection? And has anyone done this? I just don't understand what the people do at this reception with out drinking.. we are having a reception at home so I am not so concerned with the speeches, and I believe I am going to save the cake for our dinner.

Also, is the Grand Floridian cocktail bar open during late afternoon? I thought I could send my guests back and forth to that bar to get drinks!

Last question.. dinner at Citricos.. do you have to get a private room? I was told when I booked the wedding that they ask you to eat dinner as soon as it opens when there are not many people there. And do you HAVE to get a private menu? Is it possible just to order off of the regular one?

Any help would be appreciated!! :-)

Hi there ~
I don't know about the first part of your question.

But the lounge at the Grand Floridian, Mizner's Lounge, opens at 5pm. We are having a cocktail hour there before our dinner at Citricos.

You do not have to get a private room at Citricos. In fact, you generally have to book the room specifically. Although if you do not want the room, it would probably be best if you called the restaurant ahead of time to let them know. Or I'm sure you can add the note to your ADR. The room also only accommodates 12 people.

As for the menu, what is served in private room and the dining room is the same. The only they will do is provide your guests with a menu without any pricing listed on it in case you are picking up the tab and do not want them to know what the pricing is.

HTH!

If I understand correctly, you're referring to the champagne "reception" included with the intimate package. If that's the case, don't sweat it.

I think it's about fifteen minutes tops. If you don't like champagne (we don't), you can get sparkling cider instead. I think it's supposed to be a quick toast and piece of cake, maybe one dance, then split. Considering the time involved, I expect the guest are either congratulating you, or waiting to, and then you leave.

Hope I helped some.

I think starseed covered the rest for you. :thumbsup2

Those of you who had small reception dinners at Citricos (which is closed on Mondays - of course the day of my wedding!) or Narcooses - how long of a break did you have after your reception on the GF terrace? If the reception is not long after a 2:30 wedding - what do you do with your guests so they are not bored until 5:30 when the restaraunts open??

We struggled with the timing, too. But this is where we ended up with our plan:
Our ceremony is at 2pm. In order for us to take full advantage of our limo time, we are going to use it to take the cake back to our room and also a quick rest before heading over to the Grand Floridian bar for 5pm for a cocktail hour and then for our dinner reservation for 6pm.

HTH!

It's a great idea to take your cake to your room - I forgot about that! I just worry what to do with my guests... it would be great if a bar was open somewhere that they could sit until dinner. Other than Mizners that opens at 5, are there any others open to waste some time?
