Hello there!
We are still in our grace period and are wondering about the Interval International Exchanges. Does anyone have any experience with the resorts from II and if it is a wothwhile exchange? We have the same questions about Buena Vista Trading as well.
Thank you for all your help

The non-DVC options are nice for the times you want to venture outside of DVC resorts. BVTC is fine to work with (they are simply an arm of Disney that arranges these exchanges). II exchanges are all right if you plan ahead and gain an understanding how the program works- but not the best for last minute plans.

If you plan to exchange often, there may be less costly timeshares to purchase, but it is a nice option for once-in-awhile vacations thru DVC.

I wouldn't base a purchase decision on the exchange programs, as they can change at any time - or even be eliminated.

Good luck with your decision.

I would agree with Doc though my feelings are stronger. Don't buy if you plan on doing much exchanging, or better, just buy less points. Too many variables, risks and uncertainties.

I just had to put my 2 cents in - I recently tried to do an exchange for 6 months ahead to Arizona & am having trouble getting the resort I want. Yes there are a few resorts available, but not the quality that I would give up 144 pts for - plus there seems to be some discrepancies in what DVC is telling me that is available versus what some people who are Interval members are seeing as available. It's a long story -- but I am very disappointed with trying to do this exchange - not as easy as I thought it was going to be.

We wanted to book a resort in Key west FL through an exchange and figured we needed a couple of months. We put in the request and paid the fee, and never ended up getting any hits on any of the hotels available in Key west. We were very flexable on the month and days we can travel, as a matter of fact we were willing to travel any month from March - May and still could not get a switch. We were very disappointed and unless a switch is immediate would not again go on the wait list. It just held up all our plans and I must say that not one time in all the months we were on the wait list did anyone contact us to let us know they were still checking for us. I started to think that we were fogotten.

One normally needs to request at least a year out, sometimes 2 years. Not to pick on you but to try to make a point many members don't seem to get. Let me point out a common misperception I see in your statements. Saying you'll take any resort in Key West that's on the DVC exchange list from March through May and requesting only a couple of months out is not really being particularly flexible.
