Interval - Why not all resorts available?

Since DVC resorts are considered "the best", why aren't all of Interval's best resorts available to us as trades? Florida is especially limited. Sandestin in Destin is no longer available and the ones in the Clearwater area don't look nice at all. If anyone can shed any light on this I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

The anwer we have received to this question is that just because the resort meets IIs top standards, they may not meet Disney's standards. Disney indicates that they only choose only the cream of the crop from the II inventory.

If you don't like one that is on the list and you would rather have another resort - email member services.

You can always request anything in II book and see what MS says - at the worst they can say that you can't trade there.

I think DVC changed it to the Marriott. Which is a beautiful resort - just not on the gulf.

I guess I thought that it was II that was limiting resorts. If Disney wants to make those decisions, especially those that eliminate resorts that were part of the exchange when we bought DVC, I think they should do a survey of its members first. But, thanks for the advice. I will call ms to see if some of the other resorts we are thinking about might be available.

It is Disney's decision and their stated reason is to attempt to protect the members from poor exchanges. The realitity is that II does this type of thing to (or for) every II member. Assume the resorts are rated on a scale of 1-100 and your resort is rated 90. II will only let you trade within a range, say resorts rated between 85-95. They will occasionally let you trade down but I think they require a written release.

As for the resorts in FL, other than in Orlando there are many that are not great choices. A lot are hotel conversions. Sandestin has lost it's 5* rating a couple of years ago and I think it's been downgraded a couple of times with RCI as well. It too is not on the beach but is close to the bay.

Thanks. I guess I'm just not that impressed with Interval International if this is the best they have to offer. I think I'll pass on the exchange!:)

II can only offer what's available and what resorts will affiliate with them and DVC is limited to the resorts that are in II. There are few resorts that measure up to DVC but there are some.
