Just curious-since we can use points to trade throughout Interval International (II), are DVC members also considered II members? Shouldn't we then get the Interval Magazine and other reduced rate booking options through II?

On that same note--does DVC pay the membership to II from our dues? Is it a per member rate or a total fee for all DVC members to have exchange benefits?

I recently purchased a week at Marriott and when I called Interval they told me they had a membership number for me already through DVC. I thought that was very interesting as I have never exchanged my DVC points to Interval and feel no connection to II at all through the DVC.

disney membership with II is a corporate one.

DVC members don't have to join II and pay their join/renew fees - also we get a discount for exchanges - $75 or $95 don't rememory.

however that say - since we don't have our DVC in our II account - we can't trade with II except through MS - so the AC that our DVC would probably get are probably going to DVC.

As noted, DVC members are not members of II and therefore not entitled to all perks of that program (just as II members don't have access to all DVC literature and programs).

DVC has a corporate agreement with II which allows us limited exchange options within that program (we do not have access to all II resorts). To my knowledge there is no separate II component in our dues. I think DVC has simply negotiated an exchange deal with II with probably little expense to either corporation.

Did II indicate that you are already an II member and don't need to pay any additional fees to include your Marriott for exchange? I'd expect that you can only trade your Marriott if you join II personally.

DVC members cannot exchange directly thru II, we must contact MS to make any exchanges for us.

Enjoy!

DOC- I did need to join II for my Marriott exchange, and I have a different II member number for that purpose. My II number thru DVC was not for my personal use, but I thought it was odd that the II rep. had that info in her system when I called to make an exchange. It made me wonder if when I Marriott was aware of my DVC membership, prior to my purchasew/ Marriott.

They may have had access to that information, but it probably had no affect on your purchase except for their realization that you were already knowlegeable about timeshares.

Enjoy!

I knew the info existed but didn't know that the VC at II had access to it. As noted, DVC members have access to II through a corporate membership. There are benefits and limitations. Overall, it’s a negative to those that are members of II anyway and a positive to those who have little plans to exchange or will exchange rarely. II does indeed have member numbers for DVC but I believe (but not certain) that it’s only for those that have had dealings with II through DVC. One member of DVC has even had a full membership packet with their membership number sent to them FROM DVC. Several of us have had II tell us no problem and actually registered our DVC through II only to be told later it was a no go. I knew there would be a road black but the VC was so adamant and I wanted to see what would happen.

To me the negatives outweigh the positives with the current system. I’d sure like to search for II exchanges on my on and do instant searches online to compare to my other timeshare holdings.
