When I called to try to book a week in Aruba, nothing was available forever...... So I asked if MS could put me on a list to see if something become available. They said I would have to pay $75 up front. Has this always been the policy. If I changed my mind in the mean time, Iwould lose the $75.

Also does anyone with timeshares outside of DVC know if the resort called LaCabana is part of the RCI list too?

i have made two ressies for maui and was put on a waitlist since march, and no i didnt have to pay the $75 up front, i was told only when they call and the ressies come thru then they will charge me th 75 fee.
i have heard about ms trying to charge up front for the exchanges, im not if it changed or so ms are just:confused: you could always call back and check.
i also read when people had booked 2 room for cruising they were only charged on $75 fee, instead of 2 - one for each room.
because it is one ressies.

im not sure it i will be charge for 2, i have one ressies for 2 rooms for maui, that might be different, will see if the ressies comes thru-
i would call ms again today:wave2:

The La Cabana is not part of RCI it is only part of II, I stayed there 3 years ago, pretty nice resort but there are much better on the island. We woundup buying at the Marriott while we were down there.:earsboy:

I've been on a waitlist for a Caribbean exchange since April and there MS has never said there was a $75 fee up front. I spoke with them yesterday, actually, and added a couple of properties to the search list. I'm sure nothing will come through at this late date for 2004, but maybe for 2005.

I would call back and check with another MS person.

how exactly does this work, with my RCI timeshare, we have to pay our maintenace, deposit our week with RCI, then they will search, we pay a fee of between 125-145? depending on international or domestic. If the search comes through great, if not, you are out your week and better find something else! So if I understand correctly, you can have II look for you, and if you find something, then deposit your week??

Apparently DVC has started requiring payment up front for the exchange fee. The part I'm not sure about is when you get a refund and when you don't. I'm certain you'd get the refund if you cancel but wonder if you wouldn't if they offered you an exchange that you turned down. I need to contact them and ask for more info when I get a chance.

I have owned at La Cabana but no longer own the 3 weeks there. I haven't been to Aruba but know that La Cabana is definitely below DVC.

The $75 up front fee is to limit the amount of people who are searching for resorts and dates that they really do not want. The fee is refundable if no match is made, however if a match is made, and you decline, the $75 is forfit. If a match is made and you accept, the $75 is applied to the booking fee.
