Interval International - Cancellation Policy???

You can find the details in the disclosure guide:
https://disneyvacationclub.disney.g...uyers_Guide_Disney-Vacation-Club-T3_Final.pdf
Short version: Getaways (rentals) are fully non-refundable. When you confirm an exchange, there is a 24 hour grace period during which it can be cancelled and the fee/points refunded. After that, you get a "replacement week" that can be used for another exchange, checking in within one year from the date you cancelled the exchange. If you cancel less than 60 days before check-in, the replacement week is limited to flexchange (think "holding points.")

So far Interval International is seeming a lot less flexible and no where near as nice as RCI. Makes you wonder why they changed.

In reading section 13(a), it sounds like it's actually two years. The example provided in the guide is a cancellation on April 13, 2022 can be used for an exchange to December 31, 2024. Any source for it being one year or where I may be misunderstanding?

Looks like you are right, though I'd restate it to "end of the next full calendar year" rather than two years---I did not read it closely enough.

That is not how it works for most others in II. For individual members, for example:
When a Member notifies II of his or her desire to cancel a
Confirmation seven (7) days or more prior to the first date of
occupancy of the Host Accommodations being canceled,
the Member will be entitled to request substitute exchange
accommodations, as long as the Member requests travel occurring
no later than 12 months following the date on which the Member
cancels said Confirmation for Host Accommodations.

I'm not sure RCI was that much different. The exchange policies are similar, and in some ways better in II. For most resort systems, RCI penalizes trade power for cancelling as soon as nine months prior to use. II does not provided you are >= 60 days out. RCI does refund part of a getaway, but again only for cancelling far in advance.

Like every thing with Disney, it's all about the money, DVD must make more with II than RCI paid.

For RCI, we could cancel until something like 72 hours prior and our points would go back into our RCI account and remain usable until at least their original expiration.

It was also a lot easier to do shorter stays than a week. Additionally, it was simple, you booked and were confirmed to have a reservation, II doesn't appear to work that way.

I don't think RCI ever extended points' lifetimes on a cancellation. With II's cancellation window (end of next full calendar year), it might well extend your points by a year. I don't think one is clearly better than the other.
