We are heading to DW in less than 2 weeks. I starting to realize I will not have my interpreter for the shows. Does anyone know if DW has people to interpret. If I could afford to bring mt Interpreter I would.

I'm sure they do, but wouldn't know how to go about getting it done other than contacting guest services. We were at WDW in September and saw 2 people signing during the Beauty and the Beast show at Disney Hollywood Studios. My DD12 was more fascinated by watching them than she was the show! They were doing such a beautiful job!

They have interpreters for the stage shows, but the times vary so be sure to check at guest relations as soon as you get to the park.

If you go to the Official Disney Guide it gives detailed information. This can be accessed either from the link I provided or by going through the disABILITIES FAQs. Each Park has specific days of the week that they provide interpretation for shows. You may want to make sure that the days you visit the parks are the days that it will be avilable.

Yes, they do have interpreters. The Beauty and the Beast show is absolutely beautiful, and the other shows are fun, too. Here's the schedule of where they are which days:

Disney's Hollywood Studios- Sundays and Wednesdays
Magic Kingdom- Mondays and Thursdays
Epcot- Tuesdays and Fridays
Animal Kingdom- Saturday

The interpreters are great. I wish that I had looked at the schedule before making dining reservations, because I would have planned them so we could be at the park where the interpreters are.

ETA: Each morning, go to Guest services between 9:20-9:40 to get the schedule for the interpreted performances and to meet the interpreter(s). I say those times specifically because then you only have to write "Can I see the interpreter?" and the terp will come out to interpret anything else you may have to say.

Some of the shows have scheduled times only for interpretation, so don't assume it will be when you're there. I 've seen on this board advice to call 2 weeks in advance for sign langauge interpretation;)

We've gone to the shows and parades that are interpreted. When you arrive be sure to tell them you need the interpreter. They put you in a group. This year we requested an interpreter for MVMCP 11/17. I got an email confirmation it has been scheduled and will receive the specifics 11/11. Only one person in our group needs an interpreter but we are all allowed to sit with the group. It's awesome. They are super nice and do an excellent job signing. Be sure to use the reflection captioning. It's at several shows. Check at Guest Services. The Disabilities section at the bottom of the home page for WDW will give you all the specifics.

::yes::
the WDW website recommends contacting them at least 2 weeks in advance to confirm dates and times for interpretation.
Some posters have just shown up at the park that was listed as having interpreters that day and found they had missed the only interpreted performances of a show they wanted to see.

Cheshire Figment posted s link to the WDW Guest Relations page about services for guests with hearing impairments. You can also find a link to that page in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. That post also includes some links to articles about services.

We requested for the MVMCP 2 weeks in advance . They got back to us right away. I actually got a phone call. He said they try to accommodate but it is sometimes difficult which is why they ask for 2 weeks. I got an email response in only a couple of days that said they would be able to honor our request. Specifics to follow a week prior to the day we requested.
