Why? No, Seriously, why? :) I mean if you really need an internet connection in your kitchen for a recipe or something, just bring your laptop or iPad to the kitchen.

Although I certainly won't be getting one any time soon, lol, I've read about the fridge. I think the idea is that it would inventory your food, automatically update your shopping list, keep track of how old your leftovers are, stuff like that.

I haven't heard of the microwave; I'm not sure what the practical applications of that would be. It's not like you would want to turn it on remotely so dinner would be hot when you got home :rotfl: unless it was also somehow a combo mini-fridge and you could leave food in there all day. (I just made that up - I have no idea if such things have been thought up)

ETA - I wonder if the microwave could double as a monitor - you could watch Netflix while you cook - lol.

I don't think it is such a bad idea. I would love it to be able to look at recipes. For me I don't have an IPAD and bringing my laptop into the kitchen is a pain since I don't really have a lot of counter room to put it and I am also not the neatest cook/baker and I would be afrad of spilling something on it.

Internet Fridge and microwave no

Internet or computer programmable thermostat yes yes yes. They have not made a simple/idiot proof programmable/ voice activated thermostat I could work yet.:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I had go back to push up and down thermostat that I could work. When I bought it Lowe's they told it most request item and they sell out them all time.

But would it be worth the couple hundred extra bucks to have it as part of a fridge? I can't imagine. Especially when you can just print out a copy of a recipe on paper.

It won't add a couple of hundred dollars for long... Right now there's a premium for being "first on the block with..." but after that's gone figure that connected applicances will demand much less of a premium.

The microwave doesn't make sense to me, very much, but the refrigerator does. I would love to have a shopping list app running there all the time, so we can make note of what we're running out of and such, and then with a button press, or perhaps a smartphone app, access that shopping list at the grocery store.
