We wil be staying at BCV in a 2 bedroom lock off and then at BLT in a dedicated 2 bedroom. My daughter is taking an online summer college course and will need access to the computer.

Does anyone know where the connection in the 2 bedroom lock off at BCV and at BLT dedicated 2 bedroom are?

The answer to this question will help me decide if I need to purchase a wireless travel router so she can have some privacy for school work.

Thanks

Mimmie :)

We stayed in a 1 bedroom at BLT so I can't comment on the two bedroom. But in the 1 bedroom the internet connection was in the bedroom. If no one will be at home while you are away couldn't you just bring your existing router? That way you don't have to spend the money and don't have to stress over where the connection is. ALso, since it is your home router you won't need to change any settings on the computer to connect. Just a thought.

Can't help with the dedicated 2 bedroom question - we were in a 1 bedroom lock off and the connection was at the desk in the bedroom.

I brought a travel router and was so glad that I did. Even though it was just the two of us in the 1 bedroom, it was so nice to be able to move around the unit with my net book. If your daughter has to study, it would be so nice for her to be able to choose the best place for that without worrying about where the connection may be. And then you would have the travel router for future trips. (Anyone have an ipod touch)?

The routers don't cost all that much (mine was less than $50) and its case (which includes the router, charger and necessary cables) is small - 5 in by 6 in by 2in. Easily fits in my carry on bag.

I bought a D-Link pocket router - here's a link on Amazon that gives some details:

D-Link DWL-G730AP Wireless Pocket Router

I chose this one based on its size, price and because some other DIS members said it was easy to set up and worked well for them (and that proved true for me, too). There are many other good choices, though. Apparently Apple's Airport Express is also quite popular with DIS posters.

At BCV, the outlets are by the dining tables in the kitchen/LR and studio portion of the lockout.

Someone posted that there is also an outlet behind the side table by the couch but we've not used that.

We have the exact same stay coming up, Mimmie. 2 BR lockoff at BCV, 2 nights at the GF and then 5 nights 5 BR dedicated. Can't wait!!!!

Two bedroom lock-offs will have two connections, dedicated will have only one.

Who builds a hotel in 2009 without Wifi? The 90s called, they wanted their internet connection back.

Any deluxe hotel in large metropolitan city. And they still charge a fee for daily use of the wire internet.

The internet port in the dedicated 2 BR at BLT is in the Master bedroom. We took a small wireless router which took care of the issue. It covered the villa in the living room as well as the second bedroom.

Are the room internet connections at BWV wired or WiFi (specifically, a Studio room if it matters)?

I remember reading trip reports for BLT complaining that the internet port for a dedicated 2BR was in the Master bedroom. We used a mini router that we secured with a password in our BLT studio during our March. We used an Apple Airport Express, but others have mentioned using a DLink.

When I did my LIVE feeds for Kidani Village/Jambo House from Easter Sunday April 04-09, 2010 at

I brought my 4+ years old Westell VersaLink Model 327W (Verzion wired/wireless modem router).

Since I have WPA security and MAC setup at home, I needed to change to WEP security at Kidani Village.

Since my network password is more than 12 characters at home, I needed to change to Kidani Village max 12 characters.

All of the above changes without the assistance of Disney Internet Access Guest Support team (dial '56' on the room phone).

DW was on her wireless Acer 10" Netbook while I was doing my LIVE feeds with Dell 15.4" (wired and wireless).

Any spot with WiFi will also be for paid internet- if you are at a connvention hotel the convention area/lobby generally have internet but it is a paid access that is not free for DVC members either- even if it is in the DVC hotel- if you don't want to bring a router and you want wireless than you will be charged in available areas.
