We are staying in a 2 bedroom at BWV 1/28 - 2-4. My teenager wants me to bring my lap top so she can IM etc. Can anyone tell me what the charges are for using the data ports (I am assuming there is one). And does anyone know the local AOL number for this areas, or how to find it? (We have cable modems, dial up is foriegn to me)

Thanks

We stayed in a BWV not long ago (mid-Nov) and the phones had the usual data ports right on the side. Don't forget to bring a telephone cord for hook-up.

While we were there, they were busy installing wireless internet in many of the rooms/areas - if you have a wifi card, you might give it a try and see if there are any hot spots around - much faster than dial-up as well.

I use MSN, but I think AOL is similar in that you can either get the numbers from your AOL screen or set up a new dial-up connection and it will find one for you (MSN works this way - you add a new connection in MSN and specify if it's a LAN/hispeed or dial-up connection - if you choose dial-up, it asks you what tel number you're dialing from to find you a local number). MSN had plenty of local numbers to choose from.

Remember, it will cost $0.75 for each local call, I believe (for unlimited time).

If you are a member, it's $.35 per local call. I used mine last month with no problem, AOL has local #'s for dialup.

We were there for chirstmas. While there, I found out that high-speed internet access was released @ BWV on Dec. 30, we left on the 26th :(.

I'm not sure if that was WiFi, but I did notice about 3 drops in our 1 bedroom villa. :-/

Hi!

I used my laptop for schoolwork using the dataport on the telephone in the livingroom area. I set up a little desk for myself during my stay. Anyway, AOL has numbers for both Kissamee and Orlando...one is long distance, one is local...I cannot remember which I picked. I asked at the front desk. Also with AOL be sure you have AOL unlimited dial up. I did not and was charged for going over the 5 hours on the BYOAOL plan. Just make sure you set it up prior to your trip and within the billing dates for AOL.

I hope this helps...ENJOY!!!

For AOL, Orlando #'s are local, Kissimmee is toll.

I have unlimited access and since you are charged per call, I sometimes left it connected for hours at a time.

I almost had heart failure when I was first using it last month. I plugged it into the wall in the living room and was using it for awhile. All of the sudden it flipped off and would not turn back on. I thought for sure it was broken. I was so ticked because it's a pain to bring through airport security and I barely got to use it. I decided to try the plug in the bedroom, it turned right on and it showed 0% battery. I went back to the living room, here the one side of the 4 outlet plug was not live! My battery doesn't last long, especially on internet, and I didn't realize it was running on battery. I left a note when we left.
