Internet access for DVC point renters

I have searched but not found an answer to this question:

I am a DVC owner; I've made reservations for a non-member family that is renting points from me. Will they receive free internet access?

One way of looking at it: this is a "points" stay that should qualify for free access.

The other way: the family is not a DVC member, thus not entitled.

Anyone know for sure how this situation is being handled?

thanks,

DVC has not made any comment directly addressing your question although a number of posters here have reported that guests and renters have received the free internet.

From the Member Webiste:

"Daily Internet charge to be discontinued effective May 4, 2008
Based on Member feedback, the daily charge for wired high-speed Internet access for Members staying at Disney Vacation Club Resorts at the Walt Disney World® Resort will be discontinued effective May 4, 2008. Guests renting Disney Vacation Club accommodations will continue to pay the daily rate for access, and high-speed Internet access charges still apply to Members staying at non-Disney Vacation Club Resorts.

We were at OKW in mid May, shortly after the free program began. When I logged into the system on the 3rd day, I had to enter my DVC membership number to gain access. The prior two days, the system just logged me in without any challenge and the last few days were the same. No charges were applied for any of the days.

Last month I used points to rent my son a room at Paradise Pier Hotel in Disneyland - he is not on my deed - and he received free internet access.

we used our point to stay at the Grand Californian Hotel in Disneyland - it was an awesome hotel - very nice - we stayed on the concierge level - it was worth it!

Wired internet access is free for anyone staying on points.

We are DVC members and rented pts from another member twice and did not get charged for internet.

Internet access at DL is a little different. The way I understand it, cash guests must pay an $11 resort fee per night (not optional). That fee covers newspaper delivery, self parking, local calls, fitness center and internet. Points stays include this fee, member or not.

When we were at OKW a few weeks ago, we were able to log on as usual, but the $9.95 charge appeared on our bill each day. The front desk easily removed the charges for us.

We stayed at the BCV June 8-13 on rented points and got free wired Internet access.

Technically the POS states that renters are not entitled to member benefits. However I doubt the computer system is set up to see if someone is renting points or not and thus would not charge for internet.

In the past non-members who rented points were able to use their KTTK card to get benefits, such as restaurants and valet services. Now members are required to show their blue membership card to get those benefits.
