Internet Access at OKW?

Does anyone happen to know if the rooms at the Old Key West resort have high speed internet access?

If so, how much does it cost?

If not, do the phones have data ports?
and if they do how much does the resort charge for using the data port to dial out?

(I know, I'm on vacation and shouldn't worry about such things but unfortunately it cannot be avoided) Thanks for the help

The phones is all DVC Resorts do have dataports. 1-800 calls are free- local calls are .35 for members and .75 for other guests (per call).

Make sure the number is local (there is a listing of the local prefixes in the phone book) becuase the long distance surcharges are exorbitant (they even warn guests at check-in about the long distance charges).

The cost is $9.95 per day, which I think is a little excessive. It was available in the 2 bedroom in building 34 we were in., There was a router in the corner behind the end table between the two sofas.

This seems to be the standard rate at business hotels... although hotels often throw in unlimited free domestic long distance as part of the 9.95. Also, most hotels will have a discounted weekly rate... but usually I am not in a room long enough during a biz trip.

If I remember right, last time I was in the Swan... they added a "resort charge" that included internet access, health club, and other benefits... but to be honest... my memory may be cloudy on that point.

I do agree that $10/day is a lot for a non-business traveller... since we do not usually rely on our computer connections while on vacation... at least not to the same extent as when on biz trips.
