Internet Access at OKW?

I have a quick question. Can I get internet access in my room at OKW? (I'm staying in a studio). If not, where can I go to get it? I have to register for grad school from Disney World!

1) All resort rooms at WDW have internet access.
2) It is through the HSIA cable.
3) If you didn't bring one, they have a free one for use.
4) The internet is $9.95 per 24-hr period.

At SSR, it was in a bag hanging in the Master BR closet. I think at OKW, it was in a drawer on the buffet. Also, since it is for a 24 hour period, you can plan your use to cover two days (Example start at 2pm on one day and use until 1:59pm the next).

To make mine wireless, I bring an Apple Airport Express. I am sure this would work with other wireless routers as well. I share the connection with anyone within range. I figure if I am paying $9.95 for 24 hours, I might as well share.

You're right....I use the phone! Just can't force myself to pay the $10, even though it's the least expensive thing I'll do at WDW!!

I use AOL dial-up on my laptop, you just pay for the cost of the telephone call. Works great, but you must have a dial-up account. The call is $.75, but maybe $.35 for members. We use the AOL connection using a local number, then we switch users as to not log out of our AOL account.

No free internet that I know of at Disney, but we bring a wireless air card, so we don't have to use the connection if we don't want to.

No free wireless aywhere on property (unless you happen to get the room next to Demosthenes!!)

However if you are really set on free access and cannot or do not want to use dial up...then there is a Paneras with free Wifi about a 10 minute drive from OKW. Personally I would rather chunk up the 10 bucks than make the drive, but it can be done if the budget is tight.

There's a Christmas tree sharing group at OWK every winter, and a Vero beach chair/umbrella sharing group. I'm surprised no one has started an internet sharing group. A wireless router can be as cheap as $30. (although with those concrete buildings, I dont' know how far the wireless signal will travel).

That would be really cool, and I'm surprised no one's thought of that before.

DVC no longer charges for local phone calls.

If high speed isn't critical, why not sign up for a month with one of the dial-up services. They're as low as $10 for the month and then you'd have it for your entire vacation stay and not just 24 hours.
