So ... it means if I rebook using the credit, I will deal directly with AC not AM. I am ok with that as I usually fly AC. I would definitely travel in 24 months.

Yes and who knows how many more miles Airmiles is going to want for that next flight.

It would be nice if some record of the cancelled flight was viewable on our account.

I totally agree, the only thing I have that shows what I paid is 1. The original email that confirmed my purchase and 2. the email they sent to notify me the flight was changed (cancelled). It also lists the AM spent, who was flying and the taxes paid. AM tell's me they can see everything but like you, I would feel more comfortable if it was visible on my account.

I have read on the WDW Magic board that WDW is extending Canadian Rate tickets to May 31, 2021 (originally good until December 31, 2020). Not sure I would want that. The whole reason for our trip is to see the park at Christmas and do all of the Christmas stuff. I am still mad at myself for already linking my tickets to MDE. I could have sent them back and got my miles returned. grrr.

Well that's a step in the right direction. I don't know if it will be safe to go by May of 2021. What I would be happier about is if they would announce that the value of our Canadian Tickets could be applied towards the purchase of a new Disney ticket that we can make FP+ with. I don't mind losing the discount but I do want to be able to make FP with my new ticket at the 60 day mark.

@ottawamom Exactly! Losing the ability to make ANY fastpasses in advance is ridiculous. TBH, them not de-linking tickets from MDE is just as dumb. But, I get that they can't afford to refund as they need to keep as much money in the bank as possible!

@Candycane83 I don't know that much about it all either. I would take that May 2021 date with a grain of salt until it pops up on WDW website as official.

Typically, if YOU had to extend your tickets, then yes you would lose the ability to make FPs in advance as this extension had to be done in person at guest services. But, hopefully if the tickets are extended by Disney, then that wouldn't be the case. It's out of your control, type of thing.

If you have Canadian resident or other tickets and do not use them by Dec 31 2020 (currently) then they expire. Expired tickets have a value assigned to them by Disney. In order to be able to use an expired ticket you have to go and see a CM at a ticket booth (when you are at Disney) to have the "value" applied to your new ticket purchase. Because you can't (currently) purchase this ticket until you are there you will be unable to make FP selections on it. If you purchased your tickets directly from Disney different rules apply and they may be able to change the ticket for you over the phone.

In an ideal world what I would like (if I can't go) is to be able to purchase a new ticket over the phone and have the value of my Canadian resident ticket (assume it's now expired) applied to my new purchase. This way I would have tickets purchased from Disney in my MDE and able to make FP selections 60 days out.

On last nights White House briefing the CDC director clarified the statement he made a day earlier, all of which he stands by - he went on to explain that his reasoning making the statement was to emphasize the need for the general public to get the annual flu shot this year. He said that the flu shot would reduce the number of seasonal flu patients needing hospitalization.
Less people with seasonal flu frees up necessary hospital resources to treat covid patients.

Have you read any of the measures that are likely to be put on place? I know I wouldn't be spending that kind of money on a trip to Disney for 1/4 of the experience.

Not officially but if you look at what Shanghai is doing its a good idea of what is coming. Maybe not the QR code but social distancing in queues, no cash payments.

What I don't understand is that didn't it hit in the middle of flu season this time? Wouldn't that be worse than hitting at the start of influenza season? Wouldn't more people already be hospitalized for the flu by mid flu season?
