You should have no problem doing that. That is where we have activated our APs and purchased TIW card as well.

Not sure. I think you would need to contact Disney directly to find out. The official site say DAS services are at Guest Services at the Main Entrance of each park. I don't know that they consider the IG a main entrance.

This. There is a ticket booth and a GS booth together in the same little building, so it's easy to go to the wrong one. If all you need to do is upgrade a ticket to an AP, you can go to either one. But if you want to buy a TIW card or get a DAS, you need GS which is on the left.
